Hi there Mr Spygame...,..good to hear from you after along while. I
kinda agree with citronking on the relibility issues on the Athena. The
Athena never gave me much probs besides the occasional LHM leak of failed
starter. I find the athena more realiable then the later CX EFI models as
they have less electronics . Only thing electronic on my athena is the
ignition system.

Think you need to send your car Athena in for a through medical
examination...he!he!...and list down what needs to be done/rectified. May
cost you and arm and a leg..depending on what component or how the car
was maintained befoe. But once done or sorted out...It's dream baby to
drive..mate...! Just used my athena to Melaka and back...and did 160-165
km all the way back to KL [not much traffic in the early hrs of
morning..:)}...And the car was rock solid on the highway..simply purred
along...no LHM leaks /water leaks (except frm aircn drain of course) or
overheating.. but then again i had the whole cooling sytem renewed...new
radiator,w.pump hoese etc. If ur gone use the car as a daily comuter u
need to pay attention to all these items..Also get those fans checked as
Citronking suggested or u might just warp the cylinder head.

Do go to some one who will give the car a good through check.

Cheers mate!

Thanks all for the support. I guess, I need to iron out a few more
gremlins (as to be expected in cars this old). LHDdude and citornking,
thinking back, my CX wasn't that bad after all. The main problems were
overheating due to fan failure and broken hoses and tanks. I've change
most if not all the above now, and the car doesn't overheat anymore. And
the last two breakdowns weren't beakdowns at all; just running out of
fuel. Feel better now. Thanks!

The other concern about my car is the rather noisy undercarriage. I'm not
sure if its the exhaust hitting the undercarriage or somothing else. How
does your car(s) fare when going fast over potholes or uneven roads. Do
you get a lot of clanking sound? When I bought the car, I had to replca
the floorboards with new sheet metal. Do you think this could have caused
the current 'tin can' sounds from my car?

Would appreciate it if you could furnish me/share some mechs with good
knowledge of CXs. Thanks!

Hi 'king', just a question. Before Wong moved to Taman Bolton, he gave me
a few goodies, among them was something which looks like 2 circuit boards
with sockets for ? bulbs. What are they? I guessing that they are
probably for the dash meters. Any idea on how to open the dash and try
them out? Thanks!

Must be the printed circuit , unless most of your warning
lights are not working then only you change it..a bit difficult
don't try DIY might cause more damage.....

Hi spygame....

Sorry la bro I been neglecting you lately- been busy lah. I;ll be away for the next couple weeks
but lets meet up when I get back and we'll go thru your woes one by one. My Prestige will also be
going in for its long overdue restore about then.

Relax bro... be patient. This is not a "buy and drive"... it's a classic which requires patient and
thoughtful restoration- and the ability to throw money at the problems until they go away. I still
say your car was a good buy- a much wiser choice than a Pallas would have been. Certainly it was
in better shape than many others I had seen while CX hunting myself and still better than mine
was when I got hold of it.

Sabar....... you'll get there in the end. Always remember that the surest way to fail is to give up
and we're all behind you on this.

Cheers

Darth
