well tried to go to genting again on the weekend .. and again .. my car
died half way up .. sigh .. sad to say but this is the second failed
attempt .. i had everything checked .. fans .. belt .. coolant .. i
barely made it to the cable car before the engine went POOF .. :( .. only
2 people in the car .. backpacks .. dumped out my woofer and everything
to keep it as light as it could get .. drove reasonably to keep the
engine cool but when the climb came .. it gave up :(

so adds to my many more failed attempts ..

genting 2 - 1.9d 0
cameron 1 - 1.9d 0
other embarressing moments 1000000000 - 1.9d 0

7hks... when you say it gave up.. what do you mean? as in it overheated?
how about died? as in... you blew the engine?

if there is a problem with overheating... i suggest you get the engine
thoroughly flushed and the radiator removed for proper flushing... no
matter what car... it should be able to make the trip up... even an
ancient volvo 122 can make that trip... what more your lean, mean, diesel
machine....?

7hks, transplant that turbo engine in to fly up that hill! Perhaps you
have overlooked something else, air filter dirty, fuel filter clogged up?

My dad is still a diesel mechanic at 72 years old. from my experience as a
apprentice, in general, diesel seldom give up. the tranny and others
components maybe.

once i saw a volvo prime mover being tow back by a scania unit. the two
were travelling in convoy up to genting with respective 20 footer
containers load. the tranny on volvo unit give way half way. for safety
reason, the scania driver decided to tow the volvo with its load after
unloading his first load up hill. now thats diesel.

as a kid, i have seen diesel run for 15 strong years continously save for
the routine oil change and service. this staionary engine run at 650 rpm
and go on and on everyday providing the family with continous electricity.
they are still in pristine condition but service no longer require as we
now depend on tenaga.

just my colourful illustration of diesel reliability in general.

sell the citroen... support nissan!!! Big Smile oh well... no wonder you're
looking for a turbo D... don't you think that it will be more hassle than
help? since you are already having trouble with this unit... my
suggestion... with all the bangups...burstings...dentings... etc in your
car... it's time to get a Xantia Turbo D... right john?

Well, XTD is more complicated and if things fail, will be more of a
hassle. Only if willing to spend time and resources, should one enjoy the
virtues of the XTD. Overheating would point to the inefficiency of the
cooling system. Perhaps, 7hks, your car's cooling system need flushing. I
heard we have to put in 50% coolant and 50% deionised/demineralised water.
Check if there are any leaks in any rubber stoppers or parts.
