if you want comfort and quietness, and the occasional sprint, then the
Legacy is the one for you

for all out power and handling (but smaller interior) then the WRX STi is
for you

actually most of the WRX STis you see in S'pore are just normal WRX's with
STi bodykits

I dont Motor Image will suit your appetite cos the model they have are
the lowest spec in the market.

Seeing an STi for sale is not unusual but does anybody know how easy or
hard it is to get my hands on a Legacy GTB????

There's one for sale in MT but it's a '99 model and i think it was
updated in 01 with new rear suspension etc. and so am wondering whether
or not i can expect a newer one coming up for sale anytime soon?

Since i don't like the Bug-Eye Impreza it will be a few years yet before
the 03 model comes into my price range and the GTB is a very good
compromise given the 260bhp and 0-100 of 6.9s. The estate would suit me
quite well too so the only question is whether to wait or not?

I'm looking for second thoughts and inspiration please.

You cruel B@ast@rd!

I have shortened my "list" to the Legacy GTB (Gen.III), Skyline R34 GT-T
or a post 03 WRX since i know the post 03 STi is out of my price range
and i don't like the bug-eye.

Even the new generation standard WRX is out of my range since they are up
for RM160k these days compared to around 200k for the STi. It's a big
difference to the 99 GTB for 123k and even then i need to be able to
negotiate that down.

Your Type-R is a 99/00 as far as i remember? Same age as my STi5. I'm not
sure if i could go back to the original Rex as i know even mine suffers
from squeeks and that's only been on HK & UK roads. The newer ones should
not have the same problem but i know the sound from the original Rex is
better than the latest ones. I was thinking i would get the same sound
from the 99 GTB i saw advertised.

hey there, mine is the 2000 Version VI with a new HKS Silent Hipower
exhaust, FGK header, front pipe, Sard air filter, STi engine mounts, STi
springs, STi rear linkage set and STi/Rays TE37s. Mine has no sqeaks at
all. It has only 25,000km on the clock! Does that whet your appetite?????

It does but the downside will be the priceFrown Your's will be the darker
blue 2dr then? Don't say yellow or i throw you out the window now. My STi
has also done about 25k kms and the squeek from the dash/glove box has
been there since about 18k.

Even the GTB is pushing my budget a bit and i will still have to wait
until December when i get some cash coming in.

This is why i was asking about how common it is for a Legacy to go up for
sale since if i don't think about the one up for sale now, will there be
one available come December / January? It's not like a WRX or STi where
there's hundreds in comparison. Since my other option is the Skyline GT-T
and there are loads of them too it's just a matter of waiting till one
falls within budget.
