1.5 months ago, i went to Taiwan. I have a chance to ride in a super
modified Impreza WRX GDA...a 480ps ++ "supercar".
0-100km/h : 3.65 s
0-200km/h :11:72 s

0-400m : 11.61 s
Top Speed: 305km/h
It is faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo/GT2, Ferrari Modena...shame yah?
OK, anyway, back to the point, shall we talk about Evo and Impreza?
Which car do u like? why?

I own an Impreza so i'm bias.

I believe the Impreza is more stable and more drivable although i haven't
been in the latest Evo, which is supposed to be better.

The Evo can bite hard and the ride was not as comfortable as my STi5 when
i was in a friend's Evo6. You have to concentrate more with the Evo as it
is closer to the racing heritage than the Impreza, which is very tame
when around town.

Of all, though, the Impreza simply sounds gorgeous.

i drive a CE9A Evo2, so i'm biased too!

anyway i drove a Sporean friend's STi ... 4(? - it's a 98 version), and
you're rite the scooby is more driveable round town, smoother, more
pleasure, easier ride. my Evo is harder-edged like a rough jewel.
as for Impreza being "more stable" ... well, even my STi friend concedes -
scoobies tend to understeer on the limit. but he adds the proviso - 9 out
of 10 times people don't reach those limits driving on the road.
Evos with AYC corner flatter.
there again, hard core drivers or track-people don't want the AYC cos it
kinda intereferes with their out-n-out driving style.
early Evos like mine don't have AYCs of course, just std LSD at Rr, and
optional at Fr. I have Fr & Rr LSD on mine. It does help when
cornering/taking fast bends.
but comparing apple to apple, head-on-head it'll haveta be STis vs Evos,
WRXes are a category lower.
as for the sound ... i was really "high" on it n ALMOST bought a 97 Rex
before coming across this Evo. no regrets, but either way, either car's
beautiful to own ...

no offense, but evos and rexs are what i call 'mid-life crisis' cars. it's
excellent for sending your kids to school, or taking the wife to the
market, fast, so that you could be alone. that's the reason for the 4-
doors. they are just 'turbocharged protons' (wira?). sorry if this offends
any of you evo-rex lovers. don't mean too, but this is what i feel.

Well....imho...Evo's are much respected world reknowned cars...heck...the
car is damn fast!.However...in Malaysia, its image is marred by the
uncountable Evo wannabe-s with their Wira-lutions.....which is very sad.

YOu will say the same thing about Subaru if our national car is also Subaru
componets(with a Malaysian name)the moment you see a lotta Subaru wannabe-
s in their Malaysian Subaru. See the point??.

Hahah, if this were true, who would wanna buy an Evo, mayas well just
turbocharge a Proton rather than pay a hefty sum for an Evo. Again if this
were true, Mitsi has taken the wrong strategy in doing (expensive) R&D as
well as manufacturing to come up with an Evo. They shd just turbocharge
their entire line-up of passenger cars, and ... VOILA! the next "Evo"
appears. Haveta differ with you, bro, but the Evo is not "just a
turbocharged Proton".

"sorry if this offends any of you evo-rex lovers"
no offence taken, we're all entitled to our views and to voice them out,
that's what the forum's for. Smile

btw i'm not quite a "Evo-WRX lover" - i love the CARS but i'm hardly a
diehard loyalist defender-of-the-faith kinda fan, if u catch my drift.
come the next car to attract my attn, i'll just drop the evo-wrx-skyline
whatever it may be that i own at the time, and just bid byebye!

"mid-life crisis cars"
hmmmm ...(deep thot) ... i don't think i'm gonna comment on this ...
but there may be SOME truth to that catch phrase!

wastegate,
What u seen and u talk about "they are just `turbocharged protons`
(wira?)". Excuse me, do u really understand what is evo and impreza cars?
It is a car that Mitsubishi and Subaru they invest in a real rally
competition car. Well, I hv to agree that this is totally different from
the rally cars but on the road is not suitable to drive such a rally car,
therefore both manufacturers came out for suitable road use. Did u see
protons into rally? Yes, they did but they also use EVO`s engine and
technology. If u go into details, what proton turbo charge is EVO? They
are much different friend, except the bottom of old perdana is old evo`s.
And the rest are not the same.

For those ppl who are own those car they really like the cars and know
what is evo and impreza.

"it`s excellent for sending your kids to school, or taking the wife to the
market"
Yea why not. Mitsubishi didn`t warned user not to use evo go market or go
to school. When u drive a car u can drive everywhere u want and none of a
passenger car in the market had specified by the manufacturer what they
are not going to use for.

"fast, so that you could be alone"
For those driver who driving evo`s, are u alone?

Get the Evo 7 onwards... then no Lancer nor Wira would be able to
replicate other than having got to do an extensive job on its rear.....

Ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,h,ha,ha,ha. I like that reply. Also the part about going
to market and so on. Why you worry how people use their cars? A Bentley
Turbo is also an old man's car but it will surely blow most cars away
including Wastegate's car. Then he'll really be Wastedgate.
Ha,ha,a,ha,ha,ha. I really reckon such offensive remarks like "mid life
crisis cars" should be kept to oneself.
