Hi guys.....I have been searching for a decent RX7 (FD3S) for a long
time, possibly for around 2 years now.

I have looked through motor trader magazines, metro classifies... I have
seen at least 30 FD3S in the last 2 years, but I just cannot find a
decent FD3S!!!!!!!

When you spend the weekend, searching for RX7,,at least one of the
followings would apply:

1) the engine starts over heating after 15 minutes of test drive......
2) interior is really in a bad state, with all the plastic bits like the
door handle cracking
3) the engine makes really bad noises....in some cases, you will see fire
coming out of exhaust pipe after reving up to 3000 rpm.....terrible !
4) can't find a car with less than 2 owners - on average, I see at least
5 to 8 names lited on RX7's registration cards....
5) the engine needs a complete overhaul.....that would cost at least 18k,
if you are get it done up by a proper workshop who know what they are
doing....
6) compression rate is below 7kg, for all three indicators....its very
rare to find RX7 with the compression rate of above 7kg....and even if
you find them, the deviation of the compression for all 3 indicators are
way out....like 7kg, 8.7kg, then 7.8kg.....

I would be glad to hear from the owner of RX7 if you have a tip top
FD3S... pls drop me an e-mail if you know anyone who is interested in
selling their tip top FD3S !!!

My E-mail address: breezeontherock@hotmail.com

Thanks !!!

JazzyZ,

What`s your budget? It all depends on your budget.

1. Start overheating? Help to define, what indicators are you using
for "overheating"?
2. This model is about 14 years old, is quite difficult to find mint
condition.
3. There is engine noise and there is exhaust noise, which one are you
referring?
- Exhaust flames are normal. Rich fuel mixture and high compression
results in very flamable exhaust - note that all high performance cars
with modified exhausts can spit flame and rotaries in particular.
- The engine sounds like a buzzing wasp when the exhaust is quite.
4. 2 owners? That`s unrealistic. You should see my reg card -
its full on both pages
5. Yes, a rebuild is recommended. RM 7,000 - 8,000 - Ah Choy, H&M
Motorsport, USJ 1.
6. A rebuild is recommended. What indicators are you using, what
equipment are you using to measure your compression? Always rebuild when
you are not sure of the quality of the engine. It costs you more now for
enjoyment later.

Tip Top FD3S? You are asking for a mint condition car that every single
fan-boy racer wants to trash? Your option is grey import from Japan.
You might be able to find a good quality recon model.
