sport compact....
hmm i believe that would include the EVO, scooby, Airtrek, etc
wasn`t the definition of a `sports car` would mean 2 door, RWD, inconvenient as daily car?

I would think Integra Type-R, Civic Type-R, Alfa Romeo GTV, Fiat Coupe,
etc. are very sporty cars deserving the title of "sports cars" even though
they are front wheel drive.

hehheh,
zoom, i certainly don`t have a long list of vehicle to show.:)
i was brought up with the understanding from mainstream, a definition of sport car would be
a small, high-powered automobile with long, low lines, usually seating two persons.
hey, if everyone want to be known as a sport car... [shrug shoulders],
if i have a ITR or a celica at home, i don`t feel it cut out as one. but these days esp in the media,
anyone can call it whatever they want to highlight their marque.

It's hard to define a sports car these days. In the traditional olden days,
it used to be 2-door, 2 seater with RWD power. But that kinda rules out the
911 which is as sports car as sports car goes.
I guess for me is still, no matter what, any fwd is not considered a sports
car. They can look the business but can never be one. Just not right.
So the list mentioned above are to me at best - sports coupe.

a standard DC5 Integra Type-R can certainly stay with a 996 Carrera on a
twisty mountain road, and probably overtake it on a downhill section. That
makes it a nice sports car in my definition

i would think the stuttgart marque was just toying with the ITR.
would you define a AE86 a sports car? I would think it would be neck to neck on a tussle hill
drive.
no maybe the lancia and the 206 could be considered too since it did well in rally?
Ok, ok, it a friendly jibe ZZ88. Hope its not seen as beyond that.

koolspyda..... no, really, the DC5 is damn fast! But everything depends on
the driver competence, of course. I have a friend driving a Clio RS with
R-tires - he regularly kicks the asses of 996, the odd Murcielago, my M
roadster (but that's due to me being a slow driver), and numerous other
fast cars with much more horsepower, along an infamous seaside road in Hong
Kong.
The Hyundai Accent was entered into the WRC rally before, so is the Accent
a sports car also?
