I am trying to decide whether to get a new Honda Civic 1.8 S which cost
around RM 113K or the new Toyota Altis 1.8G (Auto)which cost around RM
112K . Anyone please advise coz I have never own any of these cars
before. In terms of fuel consumption and maintenance and reliability...
what are the pros and cons of these two makes ? Thanks.

As you know...Honda Civic looks space age compared to the Toyota Corolla
Altis.
It also outperforms the Toyota.
Please don't start comparing fuel consumption. They're all about the same
and depending on each person's driving style.
Need to say more?

bigfella,
Why don't if you go and test drive these 2 cars, find out the maintenance
and spare part cost (sometimes you gotto be hard a little to the sales
person to give you the details)? Then, decide it yourself.
I for one will go for Honda Civic 1.8S for sure.

Engine: Civic with i-vtec (vvti plus vtec) -140 ps/17.7kg output compare
with altis just vvti only 136 ps/17.4.
Transmission: Civic 5 speed automatic compare with 4 speed of altis.
Suspension: Civic uses independent double wishbone (i think better) than
altis eta on rear. But maybe the soft tuning of toyota will cheat u.
Interior: more space in front or rear seat of civic... and the design of
dashboard and driving seat make u feel 10 years advance from now.... altis
dashboard let u think u maybe in 10 years old car.
Exterior: u know the answer, which one will catch ur eyes?
My last advice is get civic 2.0 with cruise control, paddle shift, 6cd
audio and the power.

Toyota altis looks too old, now the best choice is civic, or you want to
want untill 2008 for new altis, but a lot of people has bad experience
with the toyota customer service.

For practical and realistic reasons, u should go for the Civic 1.8. After
all the Altis 1.8 is already at the end of its product cycle and due to
be replaced very soon. Therefore, not worth the RM112K compared to the
Civic 1.8's RM113K.
Unless u can get a huge discount off the Altis's RM113K price and u
prefer Toyota, better go for the Civic.
