Hi all sifus,
Grasshopper need to ask some help with some question. I'm looking to replace my tyres (which are already 4 years old). But I find it hard to get the same ratio at good price and quality (currently I'm using stock conti CSC 5 235/45/17). Getting the same tyres as the ones I'm currently using is a bit over my budget. I've been reading that some mid-range tyres from manufacturers like Viking (Conti Sub-co), Hankook, Kumho or GT are pretty good for it's price (Reviews from TyreReview.co.uk)

First Question. Any comments on these brands ?
Second question. Is it possible or advisable to use a different ratio tyre like 245/50/17 or 225/55/17 to replace my 235/45/17 or do we have to stick with the same ratio as the original mounted doughnuts..... grasshopper hoping to learn from the masters......

Hankook, Kumho and GT Radial have good tyres too. CSC5 235/45R17, Are you driving a Passat? 
My friend just change hers, and two years ago her CSC5 bulging and burst....lol Earlier she change to GY Asy2, and lately to BS RE-003
Coming back to your tyre size. You can change tyre size but the tyres you change to must have the same or as close as possible diameter to your original tyres. For eg. 235/45R17, probably 255/40R17, but going too wide your rims needs to be wider too. Then again, whether your wheel arch can take such wider tyres, whether on full turn will scrub your inner fender and so on. Going wider, tyre price will go up too which you don't want...lol
Better just stick to your original size. Having said that, go for Hankook or GT radial for cheaper option.
