I am Sham and have owned a Modenas Elit 150 for 6 years
Saya mempunyai sebuah Jentera Elit 150 selama 6 thn.
kalau anda seperti saya nak selesaikan masalah2 moto anda dalam sekali, sila maafkan adik kerana saya akan tulis dalam bahasa Inggeris selepas ni.
We all know how difficult to start with kick starter cos kick lever is too small for heavy engine. So everytime the battery died, it is a big problem. sometime can start, sometime cannot even after 20 kicks and a kaki sakit.
I have been having the same issue with the electrical for the longest time and after much research about 3 years ago, I wrote a letter to YUASA and they replied that YUASA does not make this model of Battery ( YTX 7 ) anymore. They stopped production 8 years ago, they have advertised the public in papers about this They even took Kementerian people to raid few shops but still till today, all the shops are selling and few people know about this, hence my post. Because of alll my problems in past, I share this hoping you will not have to go through all the same nonsense.
Step 1 ) DO NOT EVER AGREE TO LET THE SHOP CHECK FOR YOU. They will charge you RM 30 and maybe even spoil things for you so that they can make more money. Trust me, Half of them are monkeys who test by stupid method such as shorting the battery to see if got spark...BODOH sekali because once got short, the cells will start to die one by one.
I believe, most of the user try to find back Yuasa because the scooter came with Yuasa and so we all think that is the priginal. Idont know if this is MOdenas fault or Shops fault but this is a useless ( Tak boleh Pakai) Battery
Step 2 ) CHANGE YOUR BATTERY TO ONLY 1 BRAND WHICH IS KOYOKO GEL TYPE ( WARNA OREN / ORANGE COLOUR ).
Cost is Around RM 100-120.00. Some place selling for RM 95.00 I think but this battery memang 2 years also no problem
Step 3) The original stator coil ( sometimes people say fuel coil or alternator coil ) yang dari Modenas tu memang x sesuai and really not suitable. I have done enough test with digital voltmeter so when the shop idiot mechanic tells you it is charging, he talking rubbish. You will only find the charge going up to 13.3 but not moving as you tekan minyak or accelerate. So while your engine draws more power, your battery is not getting charged.
THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM ONLY GOT 2 WAY; 1 way is to try the cheap aftermarket coil ( RM 70.00 ) but i guarantee for that modenas elit 150, this coil will under-charge so your volt will only be 11.8 when you start and it will hardly climb as you tekan minyak or accelerate. THE OTHER AND CORRECT WAY IS TO BUY AN SYM ALTERNATOR STATOR COIL. with this coil ( cost Around RM 170.00 ), you will see how your alternator charge increases from 13.3 to 14.6v ( which is the perfect answer for modern battery )
So stop listening to the mechanics and resolve this your self. NO MORE HEAD ACHE WITH STARTING.

Thank you.....Happy riding.... oTher than issue, the bike is perfect but never except TAA or other brand pulleys because the balacing alos tak boleh pakai and after 80kmh, bike will vibarte like crazy. Then the mechanic will suggest overhaul. Stay with ori or jangan tukar/ dont change. you only have to change the belt ( TAA belt is okay ). But roller try to use ori and if not UMA Racing size 11, not bad, good pick up.
DONT CHANGE THE PULLEY KECUALI ORI. KEDAI TANG MOTOR TU SATU HARI NANTI AKAN PASTI ADA ORG AKAN BAKAR PENIPU PENIPU BABI TU. JAHANAM !!
