Hi Guys! I would like to install an ATF Oil Cooler to my Proton Persona. I noticed there are 2 brands available, Hayden & Jasma.
Would like to know how many rows suitable, (size/dimension) & which workshop can do a good job for this? Anyone who has this fitted can kindly share something here please.
Thanks & best regards.

Due to todayÂ’s traffic conditions and tropical climate, auto transmissions are running harder and hotter. Vehicles on the road today risks overheating their auto transmissions thus resulting in noisy gear box and rough gear shifting. Cars stuck in bad traffic conditions, in a stop-and-go situation, climbing steep slopes, driving in hot weather, carrying extra passengers and baggage could result in over heating the automatic transmission fluid (ATF).
ATF cools, lubricates and cleans the internal transmission components. When transmission temperatures exceed 93°C, the ability of the ATF to perform is greatly diminished. Subsequently, the lifespan of the fluid, seals and moving parts are significantly reduced. This increases wear rate of the friction and clutch plates, and further increases internal temperatures.
Lower operating temperatures means extended transmission life
Heat is generated from the torque converter. When a car is stationery, ATF inside the torque converter swirls around within it hitting the fan blade creating a lot of heat. Although most automatic cars nowadays has a radiator sharing ATF cooler, however it is insufficient. The ATF is send out to the radiator for cooling but the heat from the water could further increase the temperature of the transmission fluid causing it to loose its lubricity quickly.
If the transmission fluid temperature is not kept cool, ATF will turn to varnish at 116°C. At 127°C seals will harden. Friction plate starts to slip resulting in loss of torque at 146°C. Finally when seals and clutches burn out and carbon forms resulting in transmission failure at 157°C. For every 20°F drop in temperature it can double oil, seals , bearings and transmission life. Lower operating ATF temperatures will protect your investment and save you on costly repairs or replacement of another transmission.
As the temperature climbs, due to stop start traffic or traffic jams, the radiator alone cannot efficiently cool both water and the transmission fluid risking a probable engine overheating situation. Thus the need for an auxiliary ATF Cooler.

no need. there is thousand of Proton Persona out there that goes fine without an aftermarket ATF Cooler..
the current transmission is equipped with its own cooling system. take care your ATF Fluid service interval all its takes.

even mosh persona racing2 in sepang without atf cooler is good for around 5-10 laps...
but in traffic jams it gave some peace of mind if the atf cooler comes with cooling fan (hooked to radiator fan auto start)

Well anyway, in my opinion (and many others), it is good to have it fitted.
