Hi guys,

I'm new to bikes n I've been searching n surveying many big bikes on the Internet, then I saw this Aprilia Pegaso 650cc. Is there any comment for this bike? According to the specs it has 4 stroke single cylinder, 650cc with fuel injection~ Although its an old second handed bike, it cost around RM11,000 -16,000 only (with such big capacity). Is there any major problems about this bike that cause it so cheap?

Yeah... I had one of those- traded it in for my Triumph Explorer.

It's the final version of the Pegaso and features the Yamaha 4 stroke 4 valve thumper off the Tenere. Fantastic engine, great dymanics offroad, sheer excruciating agony on the highways and comes with Italian electrical gremlins.

Oh.... and RM200-a-piece indicators that snap off, all by themselves.

Panniers are ONLY available from Hepco & Becker at about RM3500 installed.

Not a good idea for you, in my opinion.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!

Are you talking about this:-

Or this:-

Look at the headlights to distinguish between the two. The SECOND bike is the Yamaha-engined last version of the Pegaso and I'll repeat my comments in my earlier post.

The FIRST bike is the original Pegaso with a Rotax engine for which parts are no longer available- or at least available with great difficulty and at great expense.

Either way, NOT a good intro into big bikes but a great way to end up with a "display" piece if you don't have the time and resources to keep it running. Of course, like all Italians, when it works, it does what it's supposed to do (city commuting or trail riding) very VERY well indeed!

Look for the review on this bike (the Yamaha one) by "slowhand" here. That's me.

Don't do it to yourself, man. Your 11k (close on a full year's pay for you) would be MUCH better spent on that Yamaha Majesty I was telling you about.

The one that I saw on web is the first image one~ Well the trial version do looks way more better than the normal one. But since I got the comments like this, I really need to take it out of my consideration unless I'm a super rich collector lolz~

Sorry to keep giving you bad news. I understand how frustrating it is.

Besides, if you're going touring, jalan-jalan cari makan like you said in your other thread, Pegaso is not the best choice. It's very offroad biased and you will feel that on the highway. Lot of vibration, short gearing, soft suspension giving major diving under braking......
