Can someone driving a Jetta advise on this? Can we connect our phone to the stereo using bluetooth? There's a phone button on the steering wheel but the dealer said that's just for show and has no function. What a disappointing answer! Hope someone here can shed some light.
I would also like to find out how to play songs from my ipod/iphone through the Jetta's speakers.

mooncake2-san,
Most VW owners do not spend much time here. Anyway, you seems to refer to Jetta and CT, mind if I assume CT is Cross Touran ?
Well, either car, they both came standard with RCD310. Hence, to connect with your iPhone or iPod, you need a cable to substitute the one originally supplied, we call that mdi cable, not that costly, couple of hundreds if you buy from deslership, reference : http://my.vw.com/201...mp3ipod-adapter
On BT, yes, the standard VW cars above, do not have the module installed. In Germany it is an optional item, unfortunately you cannot specified this option, but from what I know, you can, had this install by the right people for some thousands ringgit.

Hey, thanks for the reply! Where do most VW owners hang around? Can you point me to the correct forum?

VW owners are busy living the real life instead of sitting idly behind the screen waiting to diss on one another choice of car brand...
btw the Jetta RCD310 for Malaysian market do not have bluetooth function.
so yeah, the Mic button on the steering is basically just to function as the mute button (i accidentally discovered it btw).
and yes u can buy the plug and play bluetooth module but it will and can be quite costly...

Interesting. You mentioned the BT module is plug-and-play? We can buy it and install it easily ourselves then? Do you know where we can find one?

It is not plug and play. You need to install the module somewhere it the car (I don't know where as I've not done it myself), and you might even have to change some settings using VAG-COM. I also heard that some interior panels need to be removed to pull a cable through to somewhere.
I know Quicksave Auto likes to tinkle with VWs so you can check them out. There are also a lot of VW specialists in Sunway.

Thanks Kevin. Sounds like it could be better off to just change the whole HU, both in cost and effort.
