Hi!
I've a 8V Saga, 1.5i still in ori condition. No modification done.
Recently the car has just been stopping while driving.
I tried to start it,the engine cranks but then promptly dies back immediately.
If you just leave it for a few hours, then it starts back and runs perfectly again.
I've taken it to the mechanic and they can't duplicate the problem.
The engine doesn't seem to be overheating.
They've checked the fuel pump, the spark plugs, carburator, etc - everything seems ok.
The mechanic says it is a carburator overflow problem and wants me to change it...but he is not sure.
but a new carb is about RM1k.
Any advise would be appreciated.
Thx.

Yup, he did.
Getting the carb rebuilt is the next best option I suppose.
But still looking for a mechanic!

I think its the distributor or ignition coil(if u are using one).or, both.
Happen to my pajero b4.it will die off when going above 90kmh.
Oso famous with the old austin mini.in the old days, austin driver just park by and remove the cap for a while.
Some form barrier using kitchen foil to isolate it from engine heat.
The ignition coil wont show any physical wear on the outside.
If the price is oso the same, its going to be below rm100 for replacement.
Yes,u can diy the coil but not the distributor unless u got a timing light.
