Good to hear your son just bought the Preve. Handling of the Preve may be better than Waja though I felt NVH Waja has the edge. It is difficult to ascertain on NVH of vehicles especially on sound levels in the cabin unless some measurements are taken. When I was at the passenger's seat, the noise from the engine appears to be louder than the one in the Waja. Not too sure if it's more to the sound insulation in the vehicle or the type of engine. A newer batch of Waja with the Mitsubishi engine is very quiet. If I'm not mistaken the Preve uses the Campro engine whilst the 1st generation Waja has the Mitsubishi engine.

As a first car for young working professionals(perhaps like your son), the Preve should serve well. Though I notice most young working professionals now tend to go for Vios, Almera or some of the Korean equivalents rather than Proton nowadays, either for quality, brand-name or something else.

At RM60k-70k the Preve may be one of the more affordable sedan vehicles around. Though personally I would prefer more quality from a Proton when compared to the competition, since vehicles from the national make weren't subjected to heavy tax unlike imported models. I don't have any interest on Proton vehicles anymore (the Waja was my first car), but would want to see the company move forward by introducing more exciting new models without much compromise in quality.

If you want Proton to move forward then you have to buy their products. How else can they afford R&D?

I rarely post on the Proton forum but just recently sat in a brand new Preve 1.6. The car was a company car driven by a sales manager from another company. I didn't manage to drive the vehicle but did notice the ride and NVH (for a brand new car) isn't as solid as the Waja. There was considerable noise leakage from the engine to the cabin, and the ride was just so-so, not too smooth.

The driver of the Preve also commented if given a choice, he would rather go with the Waja than the Preve. Of course, the Waja isn't available anymore, but if considering a brand new Proton, I would think the Inspira would be a better choice although it may cost slightly more. Personally I am slightly disappointed with the Preve considering the sporty good looks of the vehicle.

Ryder, which model was this Preve. The Baseline Manual, IAFM+ Auto or the Full CFE. Most other reviews have stated that the NVH is better than Waja, esp the CFE version.

To be honest, i really wanted the preve to replace my f4p waja.
However after watching a video where the proton eg admit that waja had the edge in handling, i just live with my current ride.
Preve was made not to match waja handling.
Refine?a 2004 waja is more refine than an earlier model.
Try driving a cps model and compare it with earlier model.

One more thing, preve got no leather and i cant live without it.

Heard that exore bold's mapping is tad more agressive than preve, true or not?
Doesnt make sense as bold is an mpv.

waja's road refinement is actually quite underated...and the 4g18 is quite as well...CPS is noisier than Iafm campro oso...bt somhow its smoother....

waja main drawback is the terrible interior quality and fitment...its jus terrible...bt mechanically is great...been having one since 4 yrs and noting goes wrong with it

compare preve interior and waja is day and nite interms of EVERYTHING...preve feels ALOT more solid...

I test drove Preve CFE when it first launched. My impression with this car is handling is decent where it definitely beyond any Japanese and Korean C-segment rivals, and it does feel "conti". About the handling, it is way better than Waja (I drove Waja 1.6 Mit engine for 2 years).

I agree to you the NVH of Preve is bad where the engine noise is "terribly loud" when I rev the engine beyond 3k rpm. It is comparable with the Waja 1.6 Mit engine noise.

I won't say Preve CFE is non-value of money, at this value only Preve given the most features. But at this range there are rivals such as Almera, Vios or top up 10k will get Forte 1.6SX which gain advantage due to they are "foreign car".

preve cfe NVH is much better than any of my previous msian cars..the road handling is also the best among msian cars...the campro is a noisy engine compared to the mitsu series..at high revs the engine sound DO intrude into the cabin...this i agree...it feels silent up to about 100-120kph...after tht its a bit noisy depending on the kind of tarmac...

but there are sounds from the dashboard which is vry hard to pinpoint from whr it comes...it is vry2 annoying to be driving a new car with sounds frm the dashboard...more so embarassing whn guests ride on our car....in this aspect my fav was my wira some yrs ago...for the 5 yrs i used there were not ANY sounds from the dashboard..

If I am not mistaken, Proton only announce ANCAP. They never announce NCAP. So whoever told you Preve got NCAP is fake is a fake themselves.
