Wiper Overshooting And Mileage When Taking Car

i got a new Scirocco 2 weeks ago and discovered that the driver's side wiper overshoots the windscreen and goes over the A-pillar. prolong overshooting may break the wiper and/or scratch/damage the A-pillar and paintwork as the A-pillar is not flush with the windscreen.
i tried to reposition the wiper by removing the arm from the spigot and refitting it lower but found that it was not possible to go lower as the engine plastic bulkhead is in the way.
any of you experienced this problem of over shooting wipers in your new car and do you know how VW fixed it if they cannot reposition the wiper? Changed the motor or adjusted it to reduce the sweep arc?
another question is; what is the mileage on your new VW when you took delivery of it? mine was 42km.

my polo mileage 18km. have you taken it back to vw? are you from pj bro? mr das of fa wagen jln 222 pj will be able to help you. he got one of his personnel to fix my mudguard fender immediately at the carpark itself. no need appointment.

In VW ELSA standard, anything below 100km is acceptable and there is clause in the VW internal note. Depending on the car where is manufactured and the factory location it could be everywhere. There is a procedure to reset back to 0 if the mileage is below 100km. I am not sure this procedures still exists today as the above procedure it was applicable up to MK4.
Is a matter is too low like 10km is even more concern for me because it may not done enough factory run-in test. In germany. some go to the extend to collect their cars at Wolfsburg and immediately clock at 300-400 km distance and driving at 180 km/h/.
Of course, some people may say that piston is not season and etc. I can assure you it will last if you continue to use original oil for transmission and service in the correct interval. I own 3 VW till today all new car (first owner). First day of delivery already I have take the car at 5,000 rpm and drive down Singapore. I have still all the 3 cars with my till today and doing 6000 rpm anytime is not any issue for me car as one of them is already 15 years and still using stock engine with no modification done to the engine at all.
That is the confidence I have in German technology.

Today VW Malaysia sells 10,000 cars per year as reported by MAA, even there is only 1% manufacturer failure (which industry acceptable standard) which translate to 100 units of car got problem. But to the owner, is 100% problem. So buying car something one has to rely a bit on luck also.

hello Mr Lee, thanks for the useful information into initial car mileage and breaking in procedures. good to know VW are good robust cars. also thanks for the stats on car defects. you are absolutely right on luck. we dont choose the cars. they get assigned to us. so bad luck means being saddled with a problematic car. btw, my windscreen also got permanent scratches as a result of my defective overshooting wiper. VW discovered the wiper arm was unusually curvy (casting error) resulting in the wiper blade not tangential to the windscreen. hence, the plastic bit of the blade was scratching the glass each time it sweeps. good thing VW acknowledges the defective arm and will replace the windscreen for me at no charge! Good on you FA Wagen of Glenmarie and VW principal.

just to share on... i collected my car in bangsar but the storage yard is in Wearnes Sg Besi.
So my SA drove my car from there to bangsar showroom for delivery to me...
so 38-ish KM is alright to me...
