Already exists in VW Golf and some other cars
Leave the side-mirror knob at L.
When switch to R, the mirror will auto-tilt to the preset.
When switch to D and move >20km/h, it will auto-tile back to default.
Only for the left-side-mirror.

many continental cars have this feature, include golf and jaguars.

relying on the rear view mirrow is dangerous especially when you overtake another lane at and angle.
There will be blind spot at the side mirror. Another way is to stick additional small mirror on the side of the side mirror.

Very useful info

. in the age of reckless (& self-centered) drivers are everywhere on the road, this one would help us to better anticipate any vehicle that come rushing from behind

Rear view mirrors are an indispensable accessory when driving any motor vehicle. Lean your head all the way to the left so it touches the driver's window. Set your left side-view mirror so you can see the back corner of your car.
