Poton hybrid will be a reality soon. The cars are there already and being tested by a lot of people but not yet ready for market.
There's also plan for recharging facilities.
It is a serious thing which will happen.

Diesel is a heavily subsidised control price item. Being so, there is no incentive for the refineries to manufacture Euro 4 diesel. It cost at least USD 200M to equip a refinery with additional desulphurization capacity. Who would invest if you cannot increase the retail price to recoup the investment. The government is currently foaming in its mouth over existing subsidy, so can't get the government to absorb the cost increase too. The Pengerang refinery being a modern refinery, must be equipped to produce Euro 4 and will likely be tasked to to national service to drive this initiative in the light of lackadaisical response from other fuel retailers.
For now, the government is just making empty noises & promises that Euro 4 diesel is forthcoming to placate public pressure, but in reality is actually sitting on their hands and am doing NOTHING about it.

Thanks for sharing some updates.
Not surprising the gomen is foaming in its mouth. All auto policies / public transportation / fuel subsidies being drafted for the sake of NAP to support Potong survival. How long can you go against headwind? Or to be blunt, screw up NAP forcing whole nation to support 1 car that cannot export. How long can we go on? Even with Potong hybrid, so wat? Can it export in the first place? If not better close down cause wasting too much taxpayers' and oil money on Potong. Or get a foreign partner that can ensure Potong can export then trumpet further.

It is painful to feel that a car company that never improves over these years have resulted in such a rotten chain reaction :
If bring in Euro 4 diesel => then plenty of cars companies bring in cars which can achieve >20km/L car => then Proton suffers weak sales because their fleet of cars (even hybrid) may not beat these > 20km/L diesel cars ......... well, the above scenario may still be manipulated by government, because government can purposely use some other reasons to make these super fuel-efficient cars to cost a lot lot more than the price they are sold in Thailand or India. What an irony when cars which are supposed to be clean to the environment and efficent would cost so so much more just because need to give Proton more sales !
No other way to unwind this chain reation unless we, the rightful voters make this happens in election.
