Err.. officially no. Ford Malaysia did bring in a unit
of the original Mondeo together with one unit of Ka.
I've seen the Mondeo in Shah Alam a few years back. If
you want one I afraid you have to import one
personally. By the way, I'm buying a Mondeo half cut
and install the Zetec engine in my Mk2 Escort. :)

if Focus 1.8 CBU is priced ~RM140K (w/o tax is RM64K only), so Mondeo CBU will be
around that price or more, depending on engine CC.
The problem with Ford M'sia is, they're not so aggressive marketing their products. Look
at Focus............ there was no advertisement on local media, and suddenly they stop (?)
importing it!!!. If Honda, Toyota etc really exploit "VTEC", "VVT" terms, which are actually
more/less similar to other tech by other car manufacturers, (eg: Zetec by Ford), but Ford
does not really use it for marketing strategy. So people doesn't really know about Ford
cars!
How long more Ford M'sia rely on Ranger & Lynx (Asia's "Mondeo")??????????????

well, you are right in that ford does not know how to market their
vehicles but i think it is more of a product problem. ford in malaysia
has been sitting on its butt for sometime now since their fluke success
with the ranger, people get promoted and moved around and you know what,
no follow-up.
to the average joe on the road, when ford introduced the lynx, i guess it
is a so-what? a little like the sentra (but the sentra has a loyal
following due to various reasons so it is okay). ford needs to bring in a
value proposition to the market in order to come back and i did ask them
about mondeo and focus (sedan) and their reply was that there are no plans
to do so. come-on, if you have an european car of the year, you bring in
a big in taiwan model instead, which would you think the average joe would
be interested in ,the 'world' car or the taiwan/mazda car? if the mondeo
is a CBU and can be sold for RM150K, i think it would have a small niche
market, not great but probably better than the lynx and bring in the focus
sedan for the around 110K market.
however, i think they have a good product in the escape but the strength
of the CRV is just too great for it to compete. ford needs to spend on
some creative marketing and engage probably a better ad agency.
