That is a very good idea. I am contemplating of doing the same with my MyVi too.
Coming back to the RH78's problem, I am starting to suspect that his camera could be the problem. Mine is starting to give weird pictures when there is insufficient ambient lights or once in a while, I need to unplug/plug the camera again.
