Equalizer1,
I suggest bring it to Ford & get them check it with the diagnostic computer. The machine
will tell U if there is anything wrong with engine & electronic system.

Ashabmy - thank you for the suggestion - yes, I will bring it in probably
sometime in the week of 14 April .... I will post on this thread again
after that, as I am sure other owners of the Escape will want to know the
outcome too.

Guys,
Go read Chips' review on his Ford Escape!
Chips, I rather envy you as your 2-year old Escape interior still looks so
clean, unlike mine!

Chips one more ques. dont you think the suspension setup in the escape is
a bit bad compared to other SUV? in my opinion i think the escape in
terms of comfrt loses to quite a number of 4x4 as the absorbers are a
little harder.

shaggy,
Agree with you taht the suspension is harder then most otehr SUVs, but
thats one of the Escapes Key selling points..."Car like handling"
try
driving the Escape hard tru the secondary roads to the East Coast...sure
to bring a smile to your face

It's interesting that the Escape ended up with suspension tuning that
gives good handling (for a SUV) because the image for this model
was 'Ford Built Tough' and it was the rugged adventure image chosen for
the Escape whereas the Tribute was to have a sportier image.
I would not say the Escape's suspension is hard and uncomfortable and it
feels fine in daily use. My only real complaint is that I don't get the
full ground clearance available because the side steps use up some of it -
can't climb kerbs and dividers so easily.

Friends,
yup.... suspension set-up is a bit hard, but that why I like it... gives me better handling &
can take sharp corner at high speed. For me, it is just nice, coz if it too soft, added with
high ground clearance for this SUV, it will give you "floating" ride.
anyway, my Focus suspension set-up is even "harder" than Escape, BUT that the strong
point why I like them........... give me superb handling. Driving Escape is simply feel like
you are driving a sedan car, not like normal bumpy 4WD.

Gentlement,
Appreciate if anyone of you could advice on the following as I'm
considering to get a 2nd hand Escape 2.0 (2002).
1. What is Ford's recommendation for changing of timing belt?
2. How much will that cause?
3. What should I be paying attention to when buying a 2nd hand Escape
(such as any common problems, check its service record in Ford service
center and etc...)?
Thanks in advance. ;)
