New BMW X1 sDrive18i Launched In Malaysia
The other compact vehicle launched by BMW Malaysia is the new BMW X1 in sDrive18i form which is a new addition to its portfolio of locally-assembled vehicles. This new X1 variant underscores BMW Malaysia’s continued investment in the country.
“We are pleased to present the new locally-assembled SAV in the BMW X portfolio – the new BMW X1 sDrive18i. The new variant joins the BMW X1 sDrive20i M Sport we introduced in January this year, which is one of the key drivers of the relief work we have been doing for the underprivileged during the pandemic,” said Harald Hoelzl, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia.
“The new BMW X1 sDrive18i takes on the New Normal by further amplifying the energetic spirit and independence familiar of the powerful BMW X range in the premium compact vehicle segment. The new variant is ever-ready to meet each new challenge of thrilling sportiness with composure – bringing together the perfect synergy of dynamism, agility, and versatility,” Hoelzl added.
Powering the X1 sDrive18i is the 1.5L BMW TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine that won the International Engine of the Year Award for five consecutive years since 2015. It has a maximum output of 140 hp and 220 Nm of torque, and can speed up to 201 km/h. Its 0 – 100 km/h sprint time is recorded at 9.6 seconds. Official average fuel consumption is 6.3 l per 100 km, and for those who care, carbon emission of 144 g/km. Mated to the engine is a 7-speed Steptronic transmission with double clutch.
The new X1 includes the BMW Personal CoPilot driving assistance which includes Lane Departure Warning, Frontal Collision Warning with braking intervention, High-Beam Assistant, as well as speed limit info to ensure maximum safety on the road.
Exterior features include LED headlights, front LED fog lights, satin-finish aluminium roof rails and exterior trim, and new 17″ light alloy wheels in V-spoke style 560.
Meanwhile, the interior of the X1 comes with Leather Dakota upholstery, interior trim finishers in high-gloss black and highlight trim finishers in Pearl Chrome, sport leather steering wheel, electrically-adjustable front seats, two-zone climate control and grey headliner.
This Sport Activity Vehicle (SAV) is claimed to be the most spacious in its class. The boot capacity can be easily increased from 505 litres to 1,550 litres by folding the rear seats. Further, it is equipped with automatic tailgate operation with Comfort Access contactless opening and closing functions.
The X1 sDrive18i comes with the intuitive iDrive system with an 8.8″ Control Display that can be operated via the iDrive controller, touch, and voice control.
Exterior colour options are Alpine White, Mediterranean Blue, Black Sapphire, and Mineral Grey.
The X1 sDrive18i retails for RM208,368.48 (on the road, without insurance, and with BMW Group Malaysia’s 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty, and Free Scheduled Service Programme).
