Three Variants Of Four-Door Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé Introduced In Malaysia
Fancy a premium performance car but also need passenger space? Then take a look at any of the three variants of the four-door version of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé recently introduced by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
The youngest member of the AMG GT family combines the dynamic driving of a race car and the comfort of a Gran Turismo. “The new Mercedes-AMG GT four-door Coupé is the ultimate performance car, a track weapon with the versatility of a four-door Coupé and a Gran Turismo which spearheads the AMG family,” said Mark Raine, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is offering three variants to suit different preferences – the range-topping Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ (RM1,798,888), GT 53 4MATIC+ (RM1,298,888), and GT 43 4MATIC+ (RM1,098,888).
The GT 63 S uses the AMG 4.0L V8 biturbo engine that is also found in numerous AMG models. Paired with the 9-speed AMG Speedshift MCT 9G transmission, its output has been enhanced to deliver 639 hp and 900 Nm of torque between 2,500 – 4,500 rpm. 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time officially stands at 3.2 seconds, and maximum speed is 315 km/h. Incidentally, the GT 63 S lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife (North Loop) in 7:25:41, making it the world’s fastest series production four-seater on record. The combined cycle fuel consumption (if you really bother) is 11.3 litres per 100 km.
Meanwhile, the AMG GT 53 4MATIC+ and GT 43 4MATIC+ is fitted with the 3.0L inline-six turbocharged engine. The engine in the GT 53 has an output of 435 hp and 520 Nm, supported by an EQ Boost unit with 22 hp and 250 Nm, to give it a 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds. Top speed is 285 km/h.
The GT 43 has slightly lower output i.e. 367 hp and 500 Nm, and does the century sprint in 4.9 seconds. Top speed is 270 km/h. Both the GT 53 and GT 43 use the 9-speed AMG Speedshift TCT 9G gearbox.
The AMG 4MATIC+ is a performance all-wheel-drive system with the addition of Drift Mode which turns it into a rear-wheel-drive. Active rear wheel steering is also available.
The AMG GT four-door Coupé comes standard with the AMG Track Pace feature which records and analyses over 80 vehicle-specific data as well as times on the racetrack. The Track Pace is an additional function of the COMAND Online infotainment system. Data collected on lateral and longitudinal acceleration, the accelerator and brake pedal or steering angle help record and improve driving performance. All the values are shown on the COMAND display, on request also in real time on the telemetry screen. The different colours and acoustic feedback used to differentiate faster or slower laps make it easier to track. Even the drift angle of the car is calculated and displayed.
As well as recording drives on circuits, AMG Track Pace can also be used to register acceleration such as the century sprint or quarter mile sprint as well as deceleration values.
Other notable features available are AMG Dynamic Plus package, AMG Dynamic Select, AMG Ride Control+ suspension, Distronic active distance assist, Parktronic active parking assist, steering assist, Driving Assistance package, Easy-Pack tailgate, tyre pressure monitoring system, and Tirefit.
The AMG GT 63 S comes with the Panamerica front grille, front apron with Jet Wing (A-Wing on the six cylinder GT models), AMG Exterior Night package, AMG Aerodynamics package, AMG Exterior Carbon-Fibre package, AMG performance exhaust system, AMG light display, Multibeam LED, Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus, and sunroof. The wheels are a retro-style 21″ AMG 5-hole forged wheels, with yellow AMG brake calipers hiding behind.
The interior of the AMG GT 63 S four-door Coupé is fitted with AMG Performance seats with Nappa leather / Dinamica microfibre upholstery, AMG matte carbon-fibre trim, Air Balance package, AMG performance steering wheel in Dinamica, with AMG steering wheel buttons, Energizing Comfort Control, AMG illuminated door sill panels, Thermotronic climate control, and yellow seat belts.
The driver’s and front passenger seat can be configured in different scenarios. The selection ranges from the sporty, comfortable seat and a seat with elegant diamond quilting to an extremely contoured performance seat with an integral head restraint.
There is also a choice of different seating configurations for the rear. These optionally available seat configurations range from an asymmetrically folding rear bench seat for the family to two variants with two individual seats respectively. The optional High-Class Rear Seats configuration features a touchpad screen integrated into the console between the rear seats. The features range from calling up the dynamism data via the AMG menu to controlling the ambient lighting or the climate control and seat heating.
The AMG GT four-door Coupé has a boot capacity of up to 395 litres, which is supplemented by an additional 60 litres under the boot floor. With the backrests folded down, boot capacity increases to 1,324 litres. As an option, the large boot lid can be opened and closed with the HAND-FREE ACCESS feature.
For comfort in everyday use, the new four-door sports car boasts all the connectivity and Intelligent Drive functions and options of the Mercedes-AMG S-Class. This includes partially automated driving with DRIVE PILOT, which can support the driver with routine daily tasks such as driving in a traffic jam.
