The new Subaru Outback and XV models in Singapore are now equipped with EyeSight, following the official launch of these models by Motor Image at the recently concluded Singapore Motor Show 2018. Motor Image is the exclusive distributor of Subaru in 9 countries, including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan. Motor Image has confirmed that the Outback with EyeSight will be launched in Malaysia in a few months’ time.

Subaru Outback With EyeSight, Singapore Motor Show 2018The Outback runs an improved 2.5L boxer engine with a new alternator that is 8% lighter and meant to improve fuel economy. The Outback hasĀ 175 PS and 235 Nm going to all four wheels via the 7-speed Lineartronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), with manual mode and paddle shifters. The CVT now features a short pitch chain to reduce cabin noise intrusion as well as improve fuel economy by about 3%.

The Outback has a facelifted front bumper and grille, as well as new LED headlights that are steering responsive, and 18″ lightweight alloy wheels. Additionally, there is an active grille, roof rails and cameras on the lower part of the front grille and side mirrors to enhance visibility of blind spots. Equipment inside includes an 8″ touchscreen infotainment display with voice control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Harman Kardon sound system, dual zone climate control, USB ports for the rear, powered tailgate and PIN access.

Meanwhile, the new Subaru XV in Singapore is the same as that launched recently in Malaysia, but with EyeSight. It has the improved 2.0L boxer engine (to complement the 1.6L variant sold there) and 7-speed Lineartronic CVT, and sits on the new Subaru Global Platform, like the version here. According to Motor Image, Malaysia is slated to get the locally assembled XV with EyeSight in early 2019.

“2018 marks another milestone for us as we introduce Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight technology in the region and we are excited to unveil the new Outback and XV at the Singapore Motor Show,” said Glenn Tan, Managing Director of Tan Chong International Limited, which owns Motor Image, at the Singapore launch.

“The new Outback is a handsomely rugged vehicle, featuring enhanced aesthetics and functionalities that lets you reach your destination in style. We are excited to introduce the Subaru XV with the new 2.0-litre Direct Injection Boxer Engine and improved CVT transmission for our Singapore market which has been well-received in our other markets. These enhancements will cater to customers who are looking for the performance of an SUV and the comfort of a sedan for their everyday activities. Both models are now equipped with EyeSight and we are confident that they will exceed expectations and deliver an unparalleled driving experience,” he added.
