Porsche releases 911 Carrera 4 GTS – Carrera GTS with AWD
The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, which made its world debut last September and arrived in Malaysia not too long ago, is now accompanied by an all-wheel drive variant, dubbed the 911 Carrera 4 GTS. Like the Carrera GTS, Porsche will be offering the new Carrera 4 GTS with the option of a Coupe or Cabriolet bodystyle.
Hanging behind its rear axle is the same 3.8-litre flat-six as the Carrera GTS. Quoted outputs are unchanged with peak output of 408hp produced at a stratospheric 7,300rpm. Maximum torque of 420Nm is available from 4,200 to 5,600rpm, but it is important to note that from 1,500rpm onwards, there will already 320Nm on tap.
Standard transmission offering is a 6-speed manual, though most users are likely to opt for the 7-speed dual clutch PDK transmission instead, which removes not only the clutch pedal, but also 0.2 seconds from the century sprint, which is clocked at 4.6 seconds for the manual Coupe, and 4.8 seconds for the manual Cabriolet.
The 911 Carrera 4 GTS is also equipped with various Porsche Intelligent Performance measures, that help keep consumption to a very impressive (considering the performance) 11.0 l/100km for the Coupe and 11.2 l/100km for the Cabriolet.
The 911 Carrera 4 GTS Coupé, including country-specific equipment and VAT at 19 per cent, is offered in Germany at a price of 111,956 euro, the Cabriolet costs 122,071 euro. Both models will be on sale in Germany from July 2011.
