Nanotechnology in Car Care Products by Nano Brite

The development of nanotechnology started as early as the 18^th century. The Lycurgus cup that currently resides in the British Museum in London is the earliest invention using nano particles. The modernization and development of nanotechnologies has continued since then and has been continuously changing to meet global demands of environmental preservation. What is “Nanotechnology”?

To put things into perspective, it would take 800 particles measuring 100 nanometers wide stacked side-by-side to match the width of one human hair.

The mechanism of how nanotechnology works varies with the type of product and application, i.e whether a car coating or a scratch remover. The general principle for car wax, sealants and polishes is that the nano particles are much smaller than the average product particles and can therefore get deeper into the surface of the paintwork and provide a smoother and more even barrier to harmful particles that may otherwise attack or bond with the paint. Benefits of the product being formed of smaller particles are numerous:

1. Smoother surface reflects light more evenly and removes swirl marks
2. Tighter packed particles provide a better protecting barrier i.e less gaps for anything else to penetrate
3. Smaller particles adhere better to the surface and will potentially stay on the surface longer
4. Reduction of smears and white residues
5. In car scratch removers, the smaller particles work more effectively and vastly reduce chances of finer scratches being produced during polishing process
6. In rain repellents the particles can bond deeper into the glass and provide a tougher longer lasting protection.
