Shell Malaysia Launches Shell Helix Engine Warranty Program

Shell Malaysia has launched the country’s first ever engine warranty program. The Shell Helix Engine Warranty (S.H.E.W.) rewards loyal Shell Helix customers with an extended warranty of up to 12 years or 200,000 km.

Service your vehicle with either Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology or Shell Helix HX7 and you can benefit from a warranty against lubricant-caused engine failures for up to 12 years or 200,000 km from the vehicle’s manufacturing date, whichever comes first.

The Shell Helix Engine Warranty covers repair or replacement costs of 15 engine components (including pistons, connecting rods, engine block and turbochargers) if it’s found that the Shell Helix motor oils failed to provide proper protection and lubrication. S.H.E.W allows for claims up to RM 15,000 (Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology) and RM 8,000 (Shell Helix HX7), limited to 1 approved claim every 12 months.

Thus far, Shell has offered a similar warranty program in India, South Korea, Australia and Russia. Malaysia is the first in Southeast Asia to enjoy such a program.

S.H.E.W. is available for personal passenger vehicles registered to operate within Malaysia and are eight years old or newer with mileage of less than 100,000 km.

All you need to do to register for S.H.E.W. is to complete an oil change at any authorized S.H.E.W. workshop where the trained mechanics will be able to assist with registration. If you perform your own oil change then you need to purchase Shell Helix Ultra or Shell Helix HX7 motor oil from any Shell petrol station and contact the S.H.E.W. Customer Hotline or self-register online. Once registered, you will receive helpful oil change reminders.

S.H.E.W. remains valid as long as you service with Shell Helix Ultra or Shell Helix HX 7 motor oil every six months or according to the manufacturer’s specified oil change interval, whichever comes first. The warranty is also transferable to the new vehicle owner to help protect the resale value of the vehicle, provided the new owner maintains copies of the last receipts to prove the continued use of Shell Helix Ultra or Shell Helix HX7.

By June this year, more than 1,000 authorized S.H.E.W. workshops and Shell Petrol Stations nationwide would have been trained to offer S.H.E.W., ensuring that you get proper protection for your vehicle’s engine.
