BMW Group Malaysia’s portfolio of locally-assembled BMW models has been expanded yet again, with the X6 now becoming the ninth model line to roll off the company’s assembly line based inside Inokom’s Kulim plant in Kedah.

According to BMW Group Malaysia’s Managing Director and CEO, his company’s move to assemble the X6 locally is a demonstration of its long-term commitment to the market. He also cited the recently-commenced construction of a new parts distribution centre based in Johor which would support operations of the BMW Group in 22 countries around the region.

Available exclusively in xDrive35i M Sport guise as before, the new locally-assembled X6 comes fitted with BMW’s full M Sport package as standard, offering the M Aerodynamics package, Adaptive M Suspension, and 20-inch M double spoke alloys with staggered tyre sizes.

Inside, enhancements of the M Sport package come in the form of electrically adjustable front sports seats with memory function, M leather steering wheel, paddle shifters, and a Sport gear selector lever. Premium surface materials used include anthracite-coloured BMW Individual headliner and Aluminium Hexagon interior trim.

Powering the X6 xDrive35i is BMW’s 3.0-litre N55 six-cylinder twin-scroll turbo engine generating outputs of 306hp and 400Nm, which it sends to all-fours via its famed intelligent xDrive all-wheel drive system working in conjunction with ZF’s 8HP 8-speed automatic transmission.

With this mechanical setup, BMW claims that the X6 is able hit 100kph from rest in just 6.4 seconds en route to achieving a top speed of 240kph. The transmission incorporates a launch control function to facilitate the most effective standing starts. Average fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission levels are claimed at 8.6 l/100km and 200 g/km respectively on the new European test cycle.

The new Driving Assistant pack combines Lane Departure Warning with Approach Warning and Pedestrian Warning but excludes autonomous emergency braking. Additional infotainment services include BMW Apps which provide the basis for smartphone integration including in-car access to Facebook, Twitter, Spotify and more.

The new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is available in Alpine White, Flamenco Red, Carbon Black and Space Grey, with a range of Leather Dakota upholstery colour choices including Black,Coral Red and Cognac. Estimated retail prices (on the road, without insurance with BMW Malaysia’s latest 5 Years Unlimited Mileage Warranty and Free Scheduled Service Program) of the new locally-assembled BMW X6 xDrive35i M Sport is RM666,888, down from RM718,888 of the CBU model.
