Ford EcoSport – First Details Teased
Ford is set to open new ground in the SUV market with the compact EcoSport aimed at B-segment budget buyers. The vehicle’s impending arrival in our market was confirmed at last year’s Kuala Lumpur Motor Show, and we were amongst a contingent of Malaysian journalists invited to the car’s ASEAN regional media drive in Hua Hin back in March.
Powered by the all-aluminium 1.5-litre Ti-VCT engine that was first introduced in the Fiesta last year, the EcoSport will initially launch in Malaysia with only one variant, fitted with Getrag’s six-speed dual clutch transmission as standard. Pricing is estimated between RM95,000 and RM103,000.
The first teaser materials have just been sent out to us today, pointing out a couple key features that will be present in the EcoSport. In a short six-paragraph release, Ford confirmed that the Malaysia-spec EcoSport will have reverse sensors, Hill Launch Assist, and Ford SYNC infotainment with USB, Bluetooth and Voice Command,
