An aging product it may be, but the Mitsubishi Lancer works hard to remain relevant in the highly-competitive C-segment by introducing a new 2.0 GTE variant to replace the current GT, offering improved equipment levels at a lower price.

Retaining the tried and tested packaged that has served the Lancer well since its launch in 2008, the GTE continues to be powered by Mitsubishi’s 4B11 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated inline-4 engine mated to the Jatco-sourced INVECS-III CVT with six virtual ratios accessible by magnesium paddle shifters.

Equipment-wise, the new 2.0 GTE adds keyless entry, ISOFIX mounts, and driver knee airbag for improved safety and security. Further amenities include a powered sunroof, all-round bodykit, daytime running lights, leather upholstery, 6.1″ touchscreen audio with reverse camera, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, and automatic climate control.

Fully-imported from Japan, the new Lancer 2.0 GTE is priced at RM118,888 with insurance, significantly lower than the outgoing GT’s RM128,995. A two-year free maintenance package throws in even more savings.
