Petaling Jaya, 12 July 2011 – Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM)announced its best ever half year sales results today at a special media preview of the face-lifted Mercedes-Benz C Class saloon prior to a media drive event at the Cycle & Carriage Mutiara Damansara Mercedes-Benz Sales outlet. MBM registered a growth of 22.6 percent, selling 3,900 units compared to 3,182 units over the same period form January to June last year.

Sales of passenger cars also hit a new high, increasing 11 percent to 2,688 units compared to 2,417 units in 2010. With these performance figures, Mercedes-Benz reinforces its position as the leading premium passenger car brand in the country.

“We’ve had an exceptional first half sales performance that has helped us establish three new records in this period. Besides the best half year sales performance, we have also recorded the best ever second quarter with 2,178 vehicles sold and the best ever June with 480 vehicles sold. The results clearly show that Mercedes-Benz is the preferred premium brand amongst customers in the segment with 47 percent. Sales of our commercial vehicles have also exceeded expectations, especially the very encouraging response to our Mitsubishi Fuso vehicles, said Roland S. Folger, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

MBM plans to introduce several new models this year, in addition to the S-Class models launched last month and the new C Class previewed today. “We are confident in surpassing our 2010 achievements based on our performance to date and as we look forward to more robust gains in the next six months. Our strategies are in place to ensure we navigate the rest of the year smoothly while working closely with our dealers to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations so they can experience the exclusivity of owning a Mercedes-Benz and the value that is associated with the brand,” added Folger.
