Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd (HSDM) has just announced the launch of a facelifted version of its i10 supermini. Locally assembled in Kulim and wearing Inokom badges, the new i10 continues to be offered with two engine options – 1.1 Epsilon and 1.25 Kappa.

No changes has been made to the base Epsilon engine, but the Kappa motor has now received CVVT technology. As a result, output of the 1,248cc engine has been significantly bumped up from the previous 77hp and 118.6Nm to 86hp and 119.6Nm now, produced at 6,000 and 4,000rpm respectively. Both engines are equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission as standard.

Significant changes has been made to the i10’s appearance, as the front end now wears a new face complete with new wrap-around headlights, chrome surround fog lamps and a hexagonal-shaped grille. For the 1.25, there is a new rear spoiler to give it a sportier look, and it also comes with LED signal lamps on the side mirrors. Reworked tail lamps, rear bumpers and alloy wheels, complete the cosmetic transformation.

The cabin architecture is largely retained from the pre-facelift model, but there is now a new blue-illuminated instrument cluster complete with a trip computer. The audio unit has also been beefed up to include a remote control and USB/AUX connectivity. In terms of safety gear, ABS is standard offering, although dual airbags remain exclusive only to the top 1.25 model. Reverse sensors have also been added to the arsenal.

Now available at all HSDM outlets nationwide, the i10 is offered with five colour choices for 1.1 models – namely, Crystal White, Stone Black, Ice Silver, Champagne Gold and Alpine Blue – and four colours for the 1.25 – Alpine Blue, Ice Silver, Crystal White and Oyster Grey.

Prices, inclusive of insurance in Peninsula Malaysia, start at RM47,988 for the 1.1 Standard, going up to RM50,688 for the 1.25 Standard. Meanwhile, the 1.25 High Spec is priced at RM53,988 on the same terms. HSDM offers the new i10 with a 5-year / 300,000km warranty.
