1st Asia Ducati Week 2010 to take place in KL

Owners and fans of Ducati motorcycles might want to keep 8 – 12 October 2010 free on their calendars, as the Asia Ducati Week 2010 is set to take place in Kuala Lumpur over those dates. Coinciding with the MotoGP weekend at the Sepang International Circuit, the event is expected to attract the participation of some 500 Ducati bikes with a combined worth of RM60 million.

The five-day event will kick-off with a welcome dinner at the Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur International Airport, followed by street parties planned for the nights of 9 and 10 October at Jalan P. Ramlee. The street parties will span five clubs, so on a side note, that’s advanced traffic warning for you.

Themed ‘Red Storm’ and supported by Tourism Malaysian along with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), participants of the event is expected to hail from no less than 22 countries around the Asia Pacific region, and some from Europe as well. Participants will be taken on a city tour, visiting tourist attractions such as Batu Caves, KL Tower, Petronas Twin Towers, and Putrajaya.

Another major attraction of the event would be the Ducati Riding Experience Asia, conducted by qualified trainers from Italy directly supervised by Ducati Motor Holding. Divided into three different levels – Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced – the course teaches participants to improve their riding skills with exercises in a controlled environment.

For non-owners who wants a piece of the action, Next Bikes, local distributor of Ducati motorcycles, are making available some 15 demo bikes to be loaned out to members of the public wishing to participate in the event.

The Asia Ducati Week is based on the popular World Ducati Week, which is held at the Misano World Circuit, in Italy. During this year’s edition the Italian coast of the Adriatic Riviera vibrated with the thunderous sounds of Ducatis and boasted a record-breaking 60,000 motorcyclists from 28 nations from five continents – reinforcing the international appeal of the Ducati brand.
