New Honda CR-V with VSA Unveiled
Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd today unveiled the 2010 Honda CR-V with some minor changes. Priced RM2,000 more than the outgoing model at RM149.980 (price on-the-road with insurance), there are some minor changes, the most significant of which is the inclusion of VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist), basically a combination of stability control and traction control.
The front upper and bumper is re-designed, as is the grille and hood. Inside, there is a new seat material, and a USB port in the glove compartment for hooking up to your USB drives for music.
The engine and drive train is retained from the outgoing model, i.e. a two-litre 150 PS engine with a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
In the area of safety, the new CR-V now comes with side airbags with OPDS (Occupant Position detective System) for driver and front passenger, the first SUV in its class to have such a feature. At the rear, there are four reverse sensors, improving rear obstacle detection.
At the unveiling ceremony held at the PICC in Putrajaya, Mr. Toru Takahashi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia said, “ When CR-V first made its debut in 1995, it created a new market segment, a niche that was unheard of. Breaking through the market acceptance with a vehicle that is good for both professionals as well as out door enthusiasts, the CR-V has gone through three full cycles of revolution.”
He further added “Since its launch in 2007, the third generation CR-V has sold more than 13,000 units. It has since been a leading model in the SUV market segment commanding approximately 30 % of market share. The annual target for the CR-V is 4,200 units, or 350 units a month.
There are five colours available, with Urban Titanium added on as the latest colour.
