Persona Quest Goes to Kuala Terengganu
Kuala Terengganu, 30 January, 2010 – The Persona Quest Treasure Hunt, part of a customer affinity program by Proton Edar Sdn Bhd came to Kuala Terengganu this weekend, bringing a fun event for 54 Proton Persona customers, who brought along their families and friends to take part in the Persona Quest East Coast Region.
This particular leg of the by now well known and very well subscribed event is the third and final leg of the Persona Quest series that started last year with the first Persona quest event for the Central region customers in May 2009. This program was well received, and a follow-up event was held in Johor Bahru as the Southern Region leg in November 2009. The first event saw some 30 plus customers taking part in their Proton Personas, while the second leg saw 45 customers taking part. The final leg in Kuala Terengganu received an overwhelming number of 54 Persona customers taking part in the one day event.
The event involved a motorized treasure hunt that took the participants on a hunt for answers to clues and treasures to be submitted on a 54 kilometre route that started from the Dataran Shahbandar, the focal point in the normally quiet centre of Kuala Terengganu, southbound on the main trunk road towards Kuantan, before swinging right at Marang to join the re-entry point into Kuala Terengganu from the Jabor-Jerangau highway.
Participants in teams of two to four people in a car were required to answer 30 question clues, the answers to which were to be found on signboards along the route. As usual, the questions were tricky, and involved solving word-play clues and riddles to find the correct answers. The participants were also tasked to find four ‘treasures’ to be solved by deciphering word and picture clues, to be submitted at the end of the route. At the same time, a puzzle also had to be solved; this involved matching a Proton model to close up pictures taken of parts of Proton cars such as the Saga, the Gen2, and the Proton MPV, the Exora.
To make it even more challenging, at the end of the treasure hunt, the participants had to nominate their best driver to negotiate an obstacle course set up in the car park of the Dataran Shahbandar; there were additional prizes for the drivers who clocked the three fastest times of the day (FTD), while scoring additional bonus points towards the entire competition.
The clues were presented in dual language format, in English and in Malay. In total, prize monies and service vouchers to the tune of approximately RM10, 000 was up for grabs.
Talking to some of the competitors, we gather that the event was exciting for the Kuala Terengganu Persona owners who mostly agreed that Proton Edar should have more events of this nature; this is understandable, as events of this nature that allow them to check out the full potential of their Personas are quite rare. In fact part of the route took the participants through some winding B roads where they were given an opportunity to check out the Lotus inspired handling of their cars.
As part of the Proton Edar commitment to also educate their customers on road safety and create awareness on road safety, there were also five road safety questions to be answered, all of these adding to the overall score.
