Update on Ford Extreme

Following a tip-off from one of our forum participants, we despatched an undercover agent to the Ford Malaysia yard in Shah Alam to check if there were more colours than just black. And our agent returned today to report that there are indeed three other colours.

He spotted an Extreme in a copper-like red finish and in another section of the compound was a dark blue one. Then, while he was admiring the vehicle, another one in dark green turned up. All of them were metallic finishes. So ol’ Henry Ford may not be so pleased after all since his money-saving idea has not been followed.

To justify his high fees, our spy also examined the Extreme to see what new features it had. The first thing he discovered was that he could not defeat the security system. All his old tricks did not work so he concludes that a new and upgraded system is being fitted to the Extreme.

But from the outside, he noted that the cabin has different upholstery from the Splash and there are a few enhancements here and there.

He also noticed that the tyres were slightly different from the Splash. The alloy rims are the same size at 16 inches diameter but the tyres are fatter at 265/70.

Intent on finding out as much as possible, he waited hours inside the toilet and eventually, a big mat salleh with a nametag saying ‘B.Gates’ came in (Bill Gates’ cousin?) and he was muttering something to himself which sounded like ‘23,289 bucks for the Extreme?! Sheesh – I could get myself a F-150 for that kinda money’. Well, it couldn’t have been RM23,289 so we did a quick conversion and it comes to RM88,500 which sounds like a possible figure.
