Proton X50 Is First PROTON Model With Factory-Fitted Touch ‘n Go RFID

PROTON has partnered with Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd to make the all-new Proton X50 the first PROTON model to be equipped with a factory-fitted Touch ‘n Go RFID tag. The initiative, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 13 August 2025, will see every new X50 fitted with the RFID tag at the production line for more seamless access to Malaysia’s RFID-enabled highway network.

The signing of the MoU was done at PROTON’s Centre of Excellence in Shah Alam by Praba Sangarajoo, Chief Executive Officer of Touch ‘n Go, and Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Proton Edar. “It’s about instant gratification,” said Praba. “You drive your new Proton X50 off the showroom floor with RFID already installed — just like that. This is not just about smarter mobility; it’s about bringing real value and delight into everyday journeys. As two proud homegrown Malaysian companies, this partnership is a celebration of what’s possible when local champions work together.” PROTON_Touch 'N Go Sdn Bhd_MOU

Boosting Convenience For Malaysia’s Best-Selling B-SUV

Launched on 24 July 2025, the all-new Proton X50 has already recorded 2,000 deliveries within 3 weeks. Featuring a redesigned exterior and interior, updated connectivity features, and a new 1.5L i-GT turbocharged engine, the X50 continues to lead Malaysia’s B-segment SUV market.

Since its debut in 2020, over 140,000 units have been produced at PROTON’s Tanjong Malim plant. Zhang Qiang said the latest update adds more value without a price increase. “By partnering with Touch ‘n Go, PROTON is adding another new feature that fits perfectly with the model tagline of ‘Intelligence That Amazes’,” he said. Proton X50 2025_Launch

Partnership May Expand To Other PROTON Models

While the X50 is the first to benefit, PROTON is exploring the integration of Touch ‘n Go RFID tags into other models, especially the upcoming ones. “Our aim is to improve the level of customer satisfaction, and we think this is one of the steps we can consider towards achieving that goal,” Zhang added.
