Hap Seng Star team shines in Mercedes service competition

The after-sales team of Hap Seng Star Sdn Bhd starred in the recently concluded 2012 Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Skills Competition with 10 of them achieved notable results across all categories, two emerging as category champions.

A total of 253 participants competed in six categories, namely Certified Diagnosis Technician, Certified Maintenance Technician Passenger Vehicles, Certified System Technician, Certified Maintenance Technician Commercial Vehicle, Certified Parts Process Specialist, and Certified Service Advisor.

The 253 participants were subsequently streamed down to 30 finalists, with Hap Seng’s crew accounting for 10 of them. Two of Hap Seng’s technicians eventually secured wins in the Certified Diagnosis Technician and Certified System Technician categories, where participants have to demonstrate highly proficient technical skills that enable expert trouble-shooting.

Wong Leh Seng, Chief Executive, Hap Seng Star said, “Each round, the competition becomes more stringent, with participants expected to display exemplary knowledge and skill-set to rise to the top. In view of this, it gives us tremendous pride to witness the achievements not only of the 10 who emerged as winners and runners-up, but the entire Hap Seng Star team who participated in what was undoubtedly a tough fight.”

First introduced in 2008, the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Skills Competition was created to provide customers with an after-sales team who are experts in automotive systems, equipment and technology, have advanced technical proficiency and up-to-date knowledge, as well as cutting-edge skills.

The Grand Final of the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Skills Competition 2012 was held at the Mercedes-Benz Training Centre in Glenmarie, Shah Alam. In all six categories, the participants were put through quizzes which examined their knowledge on automotive facts and the history of Mercedes-Benz, as well as written and practical tests covering technical and non-technical aspects.
