UMW Toyota Motor Sees Sales Trend Up In May 2022

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd continues to see the sales trend for Toyota and Lexus grow at a steady pace. In May, there were 7,442 Toyota vehicles sold, while it was 137 for Lexus, making it a total of 7,579 vehicles. Comparatively, in May, UMW Toyota recorded collective sales of 6,946 vehicles.

In the past 5 months of 2022, the cumulative total of Toyota and Lexus vehicles sold amounted to 36,972 units. This is a 9% improvement over the same period in 2021 (34,026 vehicles). This is despite the forecast that vehicle sales in Malaysia will be depressed for the rest of the year.

Beyond June however, overall vehicle sales is expected to be affected as the Sales & Services Tax exemption for new vehicles ends on 30 June 2022. Edit: Latest news reveals the Ministry of Finance has agreed to extend the sales tax exemption to 31 March 2023, for vehicles booked within the 30 June 2023 deadline. Furthermore, automobile manufacturers are still affected by the global shortage of semiconductors and continue to find it difficult to increase production to meet demand.

To help bolster its sales, UMW Toyota will continue with its monthly promotions, offering benefits worth up to RM4,000 for buyers of the Yaris and Vios. June will also see Toyota lovers gearing up for mid-year savings as well as cash rebates and sales tax savings. UMW Toyota also expects to maintain its sales growth with the expected upcoming product launches.
