New Land Rover Defender Coming Soon To Malaysia

Jaguar-Land Rover should be launching the all-new Land Rover Defender in Malaysia soon. A pair of Defenders in camouflage livery have been spotted driving around in the Klang Valley this week. Though without any badging, the very recognisable and iconic body style, and also a sticker with Jaguar and Land Rover logos pasted on the front and rear screens, can’t do much to hide what it is.

There seems to be 4 doors hiding under the livery so this would make it the Defender 110. A check with the Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia website also shows details for the 2-door Defender 90. Though famed for its rather barebones and rugged character, the new Defender is a complete redesign and re-engineering. However, it still promises durability with its unique monocoque architecture. Land Rover claims that this is the toughest and strongest vehicle it has ever created.

There will be 2 powertrain options for Malaysia i.e. 2.0L petrol with 300 PS (Defender P300) and 3.0L petrol hybrid MHEV with 400 PS (Defender P400). Its local website also lists 5 variants each for the Defender 90 and 110 i.e. the base model, the S, SE, HSE, and X. However, for practical purposes, some of these models may be on request but this will be confirmed at the time of launch. Naturally all of them will feature all-wheel-drive capability and fitted with Land Rover’s Terrain Response driving modes.

The equipment list includes the First Edition brading, Black exterior pack, 10″ Pivi Pro with Interactive Driver Display, heated leather steering, Electronic Air Suspension with Adaptive Dynamics, and driving assistance features such as Blind Spot Assist Pack, 3D Surround Camera,360⁰ Parking Aid, Wade Sensing, Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition and Adaptive Speed Limiter.
