Chery Group Achieves Record July Sales, Global Fortune 500 Leap — Malaysia Among Key Growth Markets
Chery Group has recorded another month of strong performance, with July 2025 sales reaching 224,439 vehicles — a 14.7% year-on-year increase — driven by robust demand in both domestic and international markets, including Malaysia.
Of this total, 65,357 vehicles were new energy vehicles (NEVs – EVs and Hybrids), marking a 44.1% rise compared to the same period last year. Exports surged 31.9% to 119,090 vehicles, further cementing Chery’s position as China’s number one automotive exporter.
Malaysia has emerged as one of Chery’s important growth markets in Southeast Asia, alongside Brazil, Australia, South Africa, and Spain. While Chery did not release specific Malaysian figures, the brand’s expanding local lineup — led by the Omoda 5, Tiggo 7 Pro, Tiggo 8 Pro, and the latest Tiggo Cross, as well as upcoming Omoda/Jaecoo models — has contributed to its sales growth momentum. In Brazil, monthly sales have now surpassed 6,000 units, while Australia maintains a steady volume of about 3,000 units.
From January to July 2025, Chery sold 1,484,563 vehicles globally, up 14.5% year-on-year. Exports accounted for 669,360 units, while NEV sales surged 87.7% to 424,737 units — making Chery one of the fastest-growing brands worldwide. The company’s customer base now exceeds 17.18 million, with over 5.17 million vehicles sold overseas.
Fortune 500 Recognition
In July, Chery achieved a major corporate milestone, becoming the fastest-rising automaker on both the Fortune Global 500 and Fortune China 500 lists. It now ranks 233rd globally (up from 385th in 2024) and 59th in China (up from 100th last year).
Chery is also the first Chinese automaker to surpass 5 million cumulative vehicle exports worldwide.
Innovation And Safety Focus
Chery continues to invest in product and technology development to meet global demand, with advancements in platform architecture, efficient hybrid powertrains, electric drive systems, battery technology, and intelligent vehicle interfaces. Its self-developed Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) is a key pillar of this strategy. The company is also scheduled to introduce its own solid state batteries in 2026.
The brand also highlighted its commitment to safety through the Global Safety Challenge, a series of real-world extreme tests across 5 countries. The programme began in China with high-impact trials, including spiral rollovers and multi-vehicle collisions, followed by a 54-hour CSH battery seawater immersion test in Indonesia and a battery scrape test in Mexico. This automotive safety tour will head to Brazil and South Africa to further demonstrate its products’ resilience.
With new model launches planned for Malaysia in the coming months, Chery’s sustained global momentum is expected to bolster its footprint in the local market, particularly in the fast-growing NEV segment.
