Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid & Turbo Roll Off Kulim Production Line

Chery Tiggo Cross Hybrid & Turbo Roll Off Kulim Production Line

Just weeks after its official launch on 9 July, the Chery Tiggo Cross has started rolling off the production line at the Inokom assembly facility in Kulim, Kedah. From the start, Chery Malaysia had planned its most affordable SUV yet as a locally assembled model. Available in a Hybrid CSH as well as Turbo variant, the Tiggo Cross is another important step forward in Chery’s localisation drive.

Positioned as a modern crossover for urban lifestyles, the Chery Tiggo Cross represents the brand’s commitment to producing accessible, efficient, and smartly equipped vehicles for the Malaysian market. It is the latest Chery model to be locally assembled following the brand’s rapid growth in the country. Chery Tiggo Cross_Side

Two Variants, One Purpose: Efficiency Meets Performance

Available in 2 powertrain choices — a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5L Hybrid CSH variant — the Chery Tiggo Cross aims to deliver a balance of fuel economy, responsive performance, and forward-thinking technology.

The Hybrid variant features the advanced Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) system, engineered to intelligently switch between electric and petrol modes for optimal efficiency. The system blends the strengths of Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Hybrid Electric (HEV) technologies, enabling the Tiggo Cross Hybrid to achieve an impressive range of up to 1,000 km on a full tank and charge.

“The Tiggo Cross is our smallest and most affordable SUV yet — a modern crossover that speaks to a new generation of drivers who want efficiency, style, and smart technology in one exciting package. We are proud to assemble it right here in Malaysia, leveraging local capabilities and strategic partnerships that ensure we deliver global quality with local relevance,” said Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia.

Built In Kulim For Malaysians, And Supporting A Global Vision

The local production of the Tiggo Cross is done at Inokom’s facility in Kulim, where a dedicated team supports the assembly process under stringent quality control. The collaboration with Sime Darby Motors’ Inokom Corporation reflects Chery’s confidence in the capabilities of Malaysia’s automotive sector.

“We sincerely thank Chery for their continued trust in Inokom as a valued partner. The introduction of this new model is a testament to our strong collaboration and aligned ambitions. With the support of our skilled local workforce and robust assembly capabilities, we remain committed to upholding the highest standards in quality and delivery,” said Sui Keng Huat, Managing Director of Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd.

The Tiggo Cross also adds a new chapter to Chery’s global success story. Earlier in March 2025, Chery celebrated the export of 1 million units of the Tiggo Cross from China — a significant milestone that reinforces its growing international footprint. Chery Tiggo Cross 1.5 Turbo_Rear Air Vents_Steering
