DRB-HICOM Auto Solutions Adds MAN TGS Euro V Trucks To Build In-House Car Carrier Fleet
DRB-HICOM Auto Solutions Sdn Bhd (DHAS), a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Berhad and one of Malaysia’s key automotive logistics providers, has taken delivery of 7 units of the MAN TGS 18.360 4×2 prime mover to kickstart the formation of its own dedicated car carrier fleet.
Previously relying on third-party transporters and a small number of leased trucks, DHAS is scaling up its operations to meet the increasing logistics demands of Malaysia’s growing electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. Established in 2006, the company is now a preferred logistics partner to more than 20 automotive brands.
According to Chief Operating Officer Fawzi Ahmad, “We are scaling up our own fleet to meet the growing demand and ensure our business’ long-term success. After thorough evaluation that included an extensive list of parameters, we opted for the Euro V-specification MAN TGS prime mover as it ticked all the boxes. It met our expectations in terms of vehicle specifications, safety features, price point, aftersales support, sustainability goals, fleet management integration and operational fit, durability and reliability. The MAN TGS is also technologically advanced with an integrated telematics system that is user friendly. Our drivers love the truck’s design and its spacious and comfortable cabin.”
Encik Fawzi also praised MAN Malaysia’s professionalism, saying the team worked closely with the appointed carrier fabricator and local authorities to ensure timely delivery.
MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd confirmed that the handover was completed in record time, reflecting its strong commitment to simplifying logistics for customers and ensuring business continuity. According to the company, MAN is the first heavy truck brand in Malaysia to offer Euro V engines as standard to help transporters achieve better fuel efficiency, lower emissions, and reduced total cost of ownership.
The MAN TGS prime mover is equipped with a Euro V engine and integrated telematics, making it suitable for long-haul transport while complying with higher emission standards. It also features safety systems and driver-friendly ergonomics tailored to demanding logistics operations.
Looking ahead, DHAS is also exploring the possibility of electrifying its future fleet. The company has expressed interest in the MAN eTGX, which offers up to 800 km of driving range, as part of its long-term vision to reduce operating costs and further its sustainability initiatives.
