E-Mutiara Expands Fleet With New Euro V MAN Coaches; Eyes Premium Service Growth

Konsortium E-Mutiara Berhad is set to revolutionise its premium coach services with a major fleet expansion, following its purchase of brand-new double-deck and single-deck coaches built on Euro V-spec MAN RR5 26.440 chassis.
The Kelantan-based express bus operator has ordered a total of 55 double-deck and 12 single-deck coaches from MAN Truck & Bus (M) Sdn Bhd, marking a significant milestone in the company’s operational growth plans. The new vehicles will support E-Mutiara’s move into new services and expand its presence beyond the current intercity routes. E-Mutiara is one of the largest bus operators in Malaysia.
The first batch of 10 units—42-seater, 13.5-metre-long MAN double-deckers with lightweight aluminium bodies by Gemilang Coachwork—was officially handed over recently in Johor Bahru.
These coaches come equipped with MAN’s advanced safety and fleet technologies, including Telematics and a Fleet Management System. The vehicles are speed-limited to 90 km/h and feature safety systems such as Electronic Braking Assistance (EBA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Cruise Control as standard.
An additional innovation introduced by E-Mutiara is the integration of a 10″ tablet on the dashboard, which digitises and updates the pre-departure checklist and passenger manifest—eliminating the need for physical documents and manual sign-offs by supervisors at every destination.
Speaking at the handover event, E-Mutiara Managing Director Naemah bt Ya’acob said, “Our decision to go with MAN, our first brand switch in 15 years, reflects our confidence in the brand’s ability to grow with us to the next level. We always believe in the quality and durability of German engineering and the new generation of MAN vehicles are technologically advanced and there is a high level of digitalisation in their back-end operations.
We also like that MAN’s Service and Repair contract allows us to focus solely on our operations and better manage our cashflow as the cost per kilometre is fixed with no surprises,” she added.
MAN Malaysia’s Head of Bus, Anvar Kasimov, expressed appreciation for the partnership: “We are pleased to support the continued recovery of the bus industry. Our MAN Bus/Coach chassis offer the perfect combination of proven reliability, comfort and safety, fuel efficiency and sustainability. In MAN, I believe E-Mutiara has found the right and reliable partner to help simplify and grow their business. Our promise to them and every one of our customers — More peace of mind, optimum uptime and lower total cost of ownership.”
All MAN coaches supplied to E-Mutiara meet Euro V emissions standard, ensuring cleaner operations and alignment with sustainability goals.
E-Mutiara currently operates routes such as Kota Bharu–Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh–Singapore, and Kuala Perlis–Singapore. The company is eyeing further network expansion, with plans to enter new regions beyond Peninsular Malaysia by the end of the year.
The operator also intends to build on the positive response to its Mutiara Luxe premium service by introducing new comfort and technology features aimed at capturing a bigger share of the executive coach segment.
“Even as we do so, we will continue to ensure that E-Mutiara plays its part in providing affordable, safe, comfortable and timely economy express bus services to the public like we have done for the past 3 decades. We believe travel should be something to look forward to, not endure,” said Puan Naemah.
