All-New Proton X50 Secures 5,000 Bookings Ahead Of Launch

PROTON has shared that its all-new X50 SUV has gathered over 5,000 bookings within just 10 days of opening its order books on 5 July, ahead of its official launch date of 24 July. This strong early response marks a promising start for the updated model.

The X50 made its pre-launch appearance at several public venues across Malaysia as part of a nationwide preview tour. PROTON has confirmed that public test drives will begin at authorised outlets from 19 July, ahead of the official price reveal.

The company also confirmed that 5,000 units will be ready for delivery by the end of August, enabling immediate handovers for customers who booked early. 

“The incredible response we have seen for the all-new Proton X50, truly shows how much Malaysians love this model. We are humbled by the 5,000 bookings received in just 10 days,” said Zhang Qiang, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, PROTON Edar.

Production of the new model is being ramped up at PROTON’s Tanjong Malim plant, with an aim to meet demand and minimise waiting times.

The all-new Proton X50 will be offered in Executive, Premium and Flagship variants. Under the hood is a new 1.5L i-GT turbocharged engine delivering 181 PS (179 hp) and 290 Nm of torque, with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to the front wheels. This X50 claims a 0-100 km/h time of 7.6 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds quicker than before, while also offering improved fuel efficiency.

Other key upgrades include a refreshed exterior styling, enhanced Level 2 ADAS suite, and a new infotainment system featuring a large 14.6″ display with Bahasa Melayu voice recognition — a first for Proton. 

PROTON will host a lifestyle-themed launch event on 24 July, which will include the debut of a specially composed single titled “All-New Proton X50″ by local pop trio De Fam. The launch event will also mark the reveal of the SUV’s full pricing and exclusive promotional offers.

PROTON is offering early bird incentives for the first 10,000 customers under its “Ready to Roar” package, which includes a RM1,000 cash rebate, a limited-edition Touch ‘n Go card, and an exclusive GEMPAK! deal to be announced during the launch event.

With half the early slots already taken, interested buyers are encouraged to secure their bookings soon.
