Refreshed 2025 Honda HR-V Debuts In Malaysia With New Looks, Smarter Features And Enhanced Safety
Honda Malaysia has launched the facelifted HR-V, introducing sharper styling, upgraded in-cabin features, and expanded safety technologies to reinforce its leadership in the non-national B-SUV segment. The company has sold more than 170,000 units sold locally since its debut and this model commands a 41% market share in 2025 (Jan – May).
The refreshed HR-V represents Honda’s latest effort to elevate its customer offering with enhancements that reflect evolving expectations in design, performance, and connectivity—while maintaining the SUV’s trademark fun-to-drive character and everyday usability. “This launch also marks a significant milestone as we celebrate 21 years of Honda hybrid leadership in Malaysia, a journey of innovation and commitment to sustainable mobility,” said Narushi Yazaki, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Honda Malaysia. “From pioneering advanced hybrid technology to continuously refining our products based on customer feedback, the HR-V reflects Honda’s drive to deliver mobility that is advanced, trusted, and enjoyable.”
Stronger Presence, More Practical Cabin
The most visible updates are found in the exterior, where the HR-V features a redesigned front grille, reprofiled LED headlights with Active Cornering Lights (RS variant only), and a full rear LED light strip. New 18″ two-tone alloy wheels now come standard for all variants, while the e:HEV RS variant receives a new RS styling package for added road presence.
Inside, the facelifted model delivers a cleaner layout with a new floating 8″ Display Audio Unit, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and USB-C ports for front and rear passengers. The e:HEV RS adds RS-branded sport seats and a wireless charging pad, giving the cabin a premium yet sporty feel.
Choice Of Power
The refreshed HR-V continues to offer 3 distinct powertrains, catering to different driving needs:
-
1.5L DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine with 121 PS (119 hp) and 145 Nm of torque
-
1.5L VTEC Turbo engine with 181 PS (179 hp) and 240 Nm
-
1.5L e:HEV hybrid system with 131 PS (129 hp) and 253 Nm
All variants have the ECON, Normal, and Sport drive modes, with the hybrid option offering seamless transitions between EV, hybrid and engine propulsion for efficiency and refinement.
