Chery Malaysia Backs National Sports With RM50,000 Contribution To KWASN

Chery Malaysia is continuing its support for Malaysia’s athletes and national sports development with a RM50,000 contribution to the National Sports Trust Fund (KWASN). This is part of the company’s broader commitment to community development and youth empowerment in Malaysia. It had, in 2024, supported our Olympians and Paralympians with incentives—the company awarded brand new Chery vehicles to Malaysian Olympic medallists from the Paris Games, recognising their achievements on the world stage.

The announcement of contribution was made at the launch of the Chery TIGGO CROSS on 9 July 2025, in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sports YB Hannah Yeoh, along with senior Chery executives and government officials. The donation reinforces the brand’s role as a corporate partner in elevating Malaysian sports on both national and international platforms. Chery TIGGO CROSS_Malaysia_Minister of Youth and Sports YB Hannah Yeoh

But Chery Malaysia’s involvement doesn’t stop at a one-time cheque. The company also pledged to channel a portion of the proceeds from every Chery TIGGO CROSS sold in 2025 to KWASN—ensuring sustained support for athletes, training programmes, and talent development initiatives.

Chery Malaysia_Vice President_Michael Chew“At Chery, we believe performance goes beyond vehicles — it’s about empowering people,” said Michael Chew, Vice President of Chery Malaysia. “Through this initiative, we aim to support more Malaysian athletes and local sports organisations in reaching greater heights. This contribution marks our ongoing commitment to Malaysian sports and ensuring that homegrown talents continue to excel on the international stage.”

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) expressed its appreciation, noting that Chery’s support aligns with the National Sports Vision 2030. KBS is encouraging more companies to emulate Chery’s model by supporting structured athlete development programmes, sponsorships, or financial contributions through KWASN.

KWASN (Kumpulan Wang Amanah Sukan Negara) is a public trust fund managed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports with oversight from the Ministry of Finance. It provides financial support for sports programmes, international competition participation, and talent development across national associations and independent athletes alike.

Since the launch, the Chery TIGGO CROSS has drawn strong consumer interest with over 1,000 bookings nationwide. Priced from RM88,800 for the 1.5L Turbo and RM99,800 for the 1.5L Hybrid CSH, the TIGGO CROSS blends dynamic performance and smart design with hybrid innovation. Chery Tiggo Cross_Side
