Chery Brings Global Safety Challenge To Indonesia, Showcasing Battery Resilience In Tropical Conditions
Chery has launched the 2nd phase of its global Chery Safety Challenge campaign in Indonesia, putting the spotlight on battery safety in high-humidity tropical climates. The campaign continues Chery’s ongoing efforts to demonstrate the real-world durability and safety of its electrified vehicles through extreme testing conditions.
The Indonesian leg of the Safety Challenge features the Tiggo 8 Pro CSH, Chery’s flagship plug-in hybrid SUV, which will undergo a battery performance test designed to simulate environmental conditions typical of Southeast Asia. This includes persistent humidity, rain exposure, and high ambient temperatures — factors known to stress battery systems.
The same model had previously endured a 48-hour, 7-car vertical stack stress test in Chery’s homebase of Wuhu, China, a feat that highlights the brand’s commitment to high safety standards. The vehicle was also subjected to spiral rollovers, dual-vehicle collisions, and other rigorous safety demonstrations in earlier phases of the campaign.
Indonesia’s humid tropical environment now serves as a critical proving ground for the vehicle’s battery resilience. Chery aims to validate its hybrid technology under extreme local conditions and address consumer concerns about the performance and safety of electrified powertrains in flood-prone and moisture-rich environments.
This regional demonstration is part of Chery’s broader ‘In Somewhere, For Somewhere’ strategy, which focuses on tailoring vehicle development and testing to the unique challenges of specific markets. Through this, the brand reinforces its commitment to creating mobility solutions that meet the real needs of consumers across diverse geographies.
The Chery Safety Challenge will next travel to South Africa, Brazil, and Mexico, where it will continue to focus on region-specific challenges to safety performance. Each stop aims to push the limits of hybrid vehicle safety and establish new global benchmarks in electrified mobility.
