A New Era: T-Hybrid Powertrain In The 911 Carrera 4 GTS

For the first time in the 911’s history, Porsche is introducing a hybrid drivetrain designed from the ground up for performance. The 911 Carrera 4 GTS features a “T-Hybrid” system that leverages F1-inspired electric turbocharging and a compact high-voltage battery system.

Key highlights of the 911 Carrera 4 GTS include:

  • Engine: 3.6L twin-turbocharged flat-six (boxer) engine

  • Electric turbocharger: Single turbo setup with integrated electric motor between turbine and compressor

  • System output:

    • ICE only: 357 kW (485 PS), 570 Nm

    • Combined: 398 kW (541 PS), 610 Nm

  • Electric assistance:

    • Turbocharger motor acts as a generator (up to 11 kW)

    • Second electric motor integrated into the 8-speed PDK transmission provides 40 kW (54 PS) and 150 Nm of additional torque

  • Battery:

    • High-voltage battery: 1.9 kWh gross capacity at 400V

    • 12V system replaced by lightweight lithium-ion battery

  • Weight gain over predecessor: Only +50 kg despite hybridisation

  • Performance: 0–100 km/h significantly quicker than the previous GTS (official figures pending)

This mild hybrid configuration is not plug-in; instead, it offers real-time torque assist and rapid boost with minimal added weight – a strategic choice aimed at preserving the legendary agility of the 911.

Updated 3.0L Turbocharged Flat-Six For 911 Carrera

Meanwhile, the base 911 Carrera retains a twin-turbocharged 3.0L flat-six, but sees substantial upgrades for this generation:

  • Power output: 290 kW (394 PS)

  • Torque: 450 Nm

  • 0–100 km/h: 4.1 seconds (3.9 seconds with optional Sport Chrono Package)

  • Top speed: 294 km/h

  • Upgrades:

    • Intercooler relocated directly under the rear grille, as per the Turbo models

    • Turbochargers adopted from previous GTS variant for improved throttle response

    • Optimised for improved emissions and thermal efficiency

Chassis, Suspension & Wheels

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS receives the most extensive chassis upgrades of the two variants:

  • Standard rear-axle steering: Improves high-speed stability and tightens turning circle

  • Suspension: Sports suspension with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), ride height lowered by 10 mm

  • Electro-hydraulic steering control: More precise and adaptive response

  • Wheels and tyres:

    • Front: 20″ (245/35 ZR20) on 8.5″ wide rims

    • Rear: 21″ (315/30 ZR21) on 11.5″ wide rims

  • Optional carbon-blade wheels are also now available on 911 Carrera for aerodynamic efficiency

Exterior Aerodynamics & Lighting System

Aerodynamics have been further refined, with a redesigned front and rear:

  • New front bumper design with integrated vertical active air flaps (Carrera 4 GTS)

  • Adaptive front underbody diffusers work in tandem with cooling flaps

  • LED matrix headlights standard, with all lighting functions now integrated

  • Optional HD matrix LED headlights feature over 32,000 light points with pixel-level precision

  • Rear redesign includes a wider LED light strip, integrated ‘PORSCHE’ logo, and elevated number plate position

  • An optional Aero Kit for the Coupé includes a fixed rear wing, side skirts, and SportDesign front bumper for increased downforce and grip. Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS_Headlights_Active Grille
