Petron Malaysia Strengthens Road Safety Efforts Ahead Of Hari Raya

Petron Malaysia has launched its annual road safety campaign ahead of the Hari Raya festive season, reinforcing its commitment to safer journeys during the holiday period. Held at Petron MRR2 Selayang, the event was organized in collaboration with the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to promote safe driving practices amid the expected surge in traffic.

“Safety has always been a priority at Petron. We have a programme specifically for schools and universities in areas with high fatality rates. This aims to educate new drivers and riders in line with the Ministry of Transport’s Road Safety Plan 2022-2030, which seeks to achieve a 50% reduction in road deaths by 2030, ultimately aiming for zero fatalities,” said Shaliza Mohd. Sidek, Head of Retail Business Petron Malaysia.

She also highlighted Petron’s partnership with PDRM under the Go-To-Safety-Point (GTSP) programme, which designates Petron stations as safe shelters where the public can seek assistance during emergencies. “We hope today’s programme serves as a reminder for everyone to stay vigilant and drive responsibly, especially with Hari Raya approaching,” she added. Petron_Service Station_Treats Convenience Store_Go-To-Safety Point_Police

The initiative also saw collaborations with Carro, Gramp’s Asia, IGL Coatings, Rider Gate, and NesQ, offering various road safety-focused activities and giveaways. Gramp’s Asia provided samples of its botanical car spray to help drivers stay alert, while IGL Coatings introduced products that enhance windscreen visibility and reduce eye fatigue.

Carro and Rider Gate meanwhile, offered complimentary vehicle inspections for both cars and motorcycles, ensuring roadworthiness before long-distance travel. Additionally, those who downloaded the Carro Care app will receive complimentary car service vouchers. Additionally, NesQ also contributed by distributing samples of its coffee and roselle products. Petron Malaysia_Shaliza Mohd Sidek_Head of Retail Business_Station_Car Inspection

PDRM reaffirmed its commitment to road safety, emphasizing the importance of shared responsibility among drivers and pedestrians. “Road safety is a shared responsibility of both drivers and pedestrians not only during high-traffic periods but at all times. PDRM remains committed to working closely with our partners to promote awareness, enforce safety measures, and ensure safer journeys for all Malaysians,” said Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department (JPJKK) Director, Police Commissioner Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad.

He also highlighted the impact of the GTSP programme, which has been in place since 2013. Through this initiative, Petron service stations serve as emergency assistance points, offering immediate support and first aid to those affected by crime or accidents. In 2024, PDRM recognized 54 Petron station dealers for their significant contributions to this programme.

With its extensive network of stations and ongoing safety initiatives, Petron remains dedicated to ensuring the well-being of motorists and the wider community, continuing to drive road safety awareness through collaborative efforts.
