MODENAS Launches Ninja 500 and Ninja 500 SE In Malaysia

MODENAS, a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM, has officially launched the Ninja 500 and Ninja 500 SE in the Malaysian market. These new additions, offering a blend of performance and accessibility, are meant to bolster MODENAS’ presence in the competitive sportbike segment.

The Modenas Ninja 500 targets buyers of the lightweight sport category. It features a newly developed 500cc parallel-twin engine housed in a lightweight chassis derived from Kawasaki’s 250cc platform. The 4-stroke parallel twin DOHC liquid cooled engine provides 33.4 kW (44.8 hp) @ 9,000 rpm and 42.6 Nm @ 6,000 rpm. Paired with it is a 6-speed transmission with return shift. The bike’s curb mass is 171 kg and it has a 14L fuel tank. The Ninja 500’s physical dimensions are 1,995 mm (length), 730 mm (width), 1,120 mm (height). Its wheelbase is 1,375 mm while ground clearance and seat height are 145 mm and 785 mm respectively.

One of the bike’s highlights is its relaxed, rider-friendly ergonomics. The Ninja 500 comes with LED headlights and smartphone connectivity for convenient access to riding data. It is available in Black and has a retail price of RM28,100 (without insurance and road tax).

For riders seeking more advanced features, the Modenas Ninja 500 SE offers added technology and convenience features, as well as promising enhanced riding experience. Key upgrades include a USB Type-C charging port, KIPASS (Kawasaki’s Intelligent Proximity Activation Start System) for keyless ignition, and a high-grade full-colour TFT display for better visibility. The Ninja 500 SE is available in Lime Green and Black/Red liveries, with a price tag of RM30,100 (without insurance and road tax).
